“Ideal for tourists travelling by train”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

Right opposite the station, but only a few minutes' walk from the sights, this hotel is ideally located for railway enthusiasts like me who come to see the sights. Despite the fact that my 6th floor room looked across a square to the tracks, it was quiet. The WiFi worked immediately and fast; the room was clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was more than adequate, but the machines for hot and cold drinks kept running out, often unnoticed by the hard-working, helpful and cheerful staff. Reception staff were efficient and pleasant.

Stayed ub

in this hotel for 3 night recently. The Hotel is in the centre of Leiden in a perfect location for the station and for accessing Leidens many restaurants and bars. The hotel staff are all very friendly and always available to help with anything. I was in a room on the third floor which was clean and comfortable although not very spacious it had everything you required. The rooms are basic although i had a large double bed and a single bed however there is little space for storage of clothes or luggage. Breakfast was good it had everything you could want, cooked eggs, bacon and sausage, cereal, fruit, ham, cheese, bread, coffee & tea - something for everyone. The bar area is friendly and inviting and would recommend this hotel to others in the future.

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms are to the front of the hotel but there was no noise that i could hear and i was...

As family live nearby, we've stayed in almost all of the Leiden hotels, which vary greatly in standard and location.
I thought I'd give the new IBIS a try. On the positive, it is very close to Central Station, and the staff are certainly helpful. It has free internet (and I suspect this is why the Holiday Inn now has this!)
The rooms are however by any stretch of imagination....basic. Things which most lower end hotels have: Coffee making facilities, real soap, a pen are totally lacking. The floors are lino (cold on the feet at night) and there is nowhere at the bedside to put anything on.
Location...yes, but there are others nearby or a short bus ride away.
I am unaware if this standard is the same for other brand hotels, but if it is I'll avoid them.

Looking for a clean, quiet hotel in Leiden? This hotel will suit you very well. Beds are comfortable, room is small, bathroom is quite adequate. Opposite the train station. Neighbouring area not the greatest, but safe to walk in. Breakfast is expensive. Only one real drawback - a snarky evening reception clerk who was not accommodating at all with our request regarding taxis. We were told they have a contract with one taxi company only and would not call another one for us when the first one did not arrive after 20 minutes. We were told the taxi had been waiting for us at the other door - pity they didn't tell us to wait there. Poor customer service on the part of one staff member. It only takes one rotten apple to spoil the barrel. Overall a comfortable hotel.

It was excellent value for money and the location could not have been better.
The parts of the hotel I saw were clean and well maintained
The air conditioning in my room could have been quieter.
It was hard work squeezing the shampoo/soap dispensers.
The young man at reception when I checked out was rather distant and blunt.

I stayed 6 nights at this Hotel, It is just across the square from the excellent station. The Hotel is new and the best Ibis I have ever stayed in. The rooms on the top floor have a suberb view of the city of Leiden. The bathroom is not too small, the shower powerful and there is a plentiful supply of hot water. I found the staff to be most helpful and accomodating. It is possible to travel by train from Leiden to Amsterdam,The Hague or Rotterdam, although Leiden is a wonderful city. I hired a bike from the hotel which made getting around easy. I got an excellent summer rate from Ibis which made it very good value.

Room Tip: High floor with a view of the city.

The Ibis isn't perfect, but overall the good outweighs the bad in my opinion.

Pros: It is right next to the train station, so you wont have to travel far with your luggage. It's just on the edge of downtown, most everything is within walking distance. The front desk has 24 hour service.

Cons: The walls are thin and I could hear everyone walking down the halls. Breakfast is not complementary (15 euro when I was there), this price is not listed anywhere and I hate these kinds of surprises. The breakfast isn't even worth the price.
