“A great fish restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

Good location, attentive staff, not rushed. We both had the 4 course speciality menu, food was delightful. Ask for the english menu if you do not understand the dutch one.
Book ahead, the place was very busy.

“Unexpectedly good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

On a city trip to Rotterdam we stayed one night in Dordrecht. We dropped in at De Stroper and we had a near perfect evening (I don't give recommendations away that easy).
First off: personnel was caring and trained, very professional without becoming too stiff and friendly with our two kids.
The Restaurant is simple but tidy, clean and you get out of it without smelling of food... A rarity these days!
About food: this is mainly a fish restaurant that you can approach with confidence, I rarely find such a balance between quality of material and cooking style.
Don't expect very sophisticated cuisine: just very, very good food from starters to desserts.
A small remark: the wine list lacks substance on European wines... Too many Africans and South Americans for an average guy like me.

“Great Seafood on Corner of Classic Dutch Bridge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

What can you say when after 16 years a small restaurant on the Wijnbrug on a beautiful canal in one of the nicest cities in the world continues to delight everyone who goes there. The food and wine is not cheap but it is the most imaginative handling of seafood you can imagine, and we would not hesitate to recommend you try it. When you have finished you can wander along the canal and see the place where Rhein meets Maas to complete the evening. Service and welcome is faultless.

The best meal of our vacation, Edwin Roestenberg is a master of fish! Special 4 course menu for 39 Euros, what a deal!! Perfectly cooked fish, beautiful presentation, a culinary tour de force, texture, taste flavours all matched nicely, and a house white wine for 3.50 Euros,

“A refreshing experience with fish and seafood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

Fish restaurant De Stroper, situated in the heart of the medieval city of Dordrecht and overlooking the old Voorstraathaven (Voorstraat harbour), is a nice and intimate restaurant, serving wonderful menus and lovely culinary creations, all of which are prepared with care and attention and respect for the ingredients. Don't miss this place. There are many places where you can eat worse, but very few where you can eat better.
