Whilst we were on a business trip and staying at the Hotel Grand Winston in Rijswijk, we decided to check out the famous ceramic city of Delft as it was only a 10 minute drive away. Once dropped off in the city center we wandered to the main square where there's a rather attractive looking town hall and then got drawn in by some very delicious smelling smells emanating from this establishment.
The terrace furniture was not only looking very attractive and enticing but also very comfortable, especially the outdoor heaters were a very pleasant addition to a chilly evening.
We had no special expectations in terms of the cuisine other than getting fed something decent, however the menu looked impressive and we were absolutely delighted with every dish that come to greet us. I had a lightly seared tuna as starter and a Sole and scallop main course accompanied by a very fine truffled cream sauce. As a desert I had the cheese platter which really is a must when in The Netherlands, and it was delicious. The service was outstanding and smiley. in the end we had some issues getting a taxi to go back to Rijswijk and they went beyond the call of duty to get one for us and they even threw in a drink whilst we were waiting on the house!
But what made this foodie experience even better, was the menu price of euro 29 per person for a 3 course gastrnomic meal, so all in all excellent value for money in these economic difficult times.
We had a great night, can't recommend it enough and already look forward to going back next time we are in town!
Hartelijk bedankt & tot ziens !
