“Quiet Elegance in Middelburg”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

I selected this restaurant on the basis of how it looked from the street and the menu to bring a colleague from out of town. When we arrived, the choise window table was at our disposal and there were no other tables close. Quiet, understated, elegant sum up the atmosphere. Excellent linens and cutlery. The hostess/waitress (perhaps an owner) was exceptional in discussing her menu, the wines, and looked after our comfort without hovering. My colleague is a Brit and he totally fell in love with the Stilton cheese. Our entrees were very well cooked and it was just a special evening. It is a bit pricey compared to some other restaurants so make it a special evening. It is well worth the money.

“Nouvelle Cuisine Rip-Off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2011

Lovely looking restaurant, but understaffed and food not as described. Waited two hours for meal after ordering -three of us at one of ten tables, only three other tables occupied. No bread. no attentiveness. When my "half lobster" arrived, it consisted of one naked lobster claw on a plate- nothing else. My friends "veal with bearnaise sauce and gnocchi" arrived and there were two fried pieces of salted, cured meat (like a ham hock) in one inch triangles and two pieces of gnocchi as a decorative garnish, the third guest's "turbot" was the size of 1/3 of a normal fish filet - no sauce, 2" x 2" on empty plate. We inquired in detail about dishes, owner spoke perfect English, yet what arrived was inedible. This is one of the worse European dining experiences I have ever experienced.

“Not as good as it was”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2011

Nice location, just outside town centre.Service and ambience excellent. Food did not live up to expectations. One is guided towards 3-4 course set menu at about 40-45 Euros per person.Lobster etc. Everything is extra including water which creates a bit of a rip off feeling. In fact water was added to the bill ( 7 Euros) but taken off the bill as we did not had any. One reaches 90 Euros for 2 with little to show for it.With a bottle of wine and some drinks this would easily reach 140 Euros for two. Was that worth it. No.

“A superb dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2010

A picturesque location on a canal in Middelburg, a small distance from the bustling center, is a quiet restaurant that provided it all: quiet atmosphere, efficient, friendly and knowledgable service, superb and interesting food, moderate prices. I cannot recommend a restaurant more highly.
