“Superstay for food lovers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

Last weekend a celebrated my birthday at the Librije in Zwolle. It is a perfect place for celebrations. The main reason to visit the Librije is the food and it was superior. We started with a dinner in Librijes Zusje. This was my first time in this restaurant, but I have been in the main restaurant before a few times, and this has the same qualitiy. The Michelin stars are well deserved. My friend had the vegatarian menu, I the normal 6 courses, and all 12 were perfect and delicious. The same for the pairing wines. That night we slept in the hotel in a lovely suite. All rooms are different and full of character, being in the former prison. The beds were extreme comfortable and everything you would expect or need in the room was there. Next morning the breakfast was so super! Take you time to enjoy the 6 small courses that are served. We spent the day in Zwolle, shopping and we finished our visit with a cooking class in Librijes Atelier. That was also a very high level experience in the whole Librije style. The whole weekend was a treat and I enjoyed it very much! I can recommend the place to everybody who appreciates quality food and the good live!

We stayed here for 2 nights and we had a wonderful time. We booked a junior suite but got upgraded to a very nice full suite with large bath tube, rain shower, B&O television, reclineable boxspring. We enjoyed in particular the wonderful service starting with the welcome at the reception but lasting the whole 2 days with little attentions like a welcome glass at arrival, little cakes in the room, cheese and sausage in the minibar, valet service for the car, limo transfer to the restaurant,...
It is also very nice that little extras like the minibar and wifi are included, contrary to some other luxurious hotels which charge significant extras for these.
We will be back for sure and can only recommend the hotel.

Through the years I have seen a lot of different kind if hotels. This one is the best one EVER (so far!!). Booked as a surprise by my wife! WOW!!! What can I say! Arival with a glas of wine in the lobby. Butler showing us the suite. WOW! So beautiful. It was a real joy staying at this hotel. You really feel welcome and at home. Looking forward coming here again!!

I can only emphasize what other reviews say about this hotel. From te moment we stopped our car in front of the hotel (as if they were waiting for us) until our car was brought back by the valet parking the next day it was a very, very pleasurable experience to stay, wine and dine at the Librije.

Room Tip: we stayed in 'Zoethout' which was a very spacious room. Our friends stayed in 'Verveine...

Librije’s Hotel was amazing: everything was just perfect according to international standards. From the welcome with a glass of champagne and gooseliver lollies to the room, breakfast and the valet service.

Check-in was done whilst seated in the garden, sipping champage. You could set an estimated time for your dinner at ‘de Librije’. A car would be ready to pick you up in case it rained or you were wearing high heels. Restaurant is about a 5-10 min walk away.

When we were ready we were brought to our room, Verveine, where I found the best bed I have ever encountered in a hotel. You just want to dive in and stay there. There was a 2 person huge bath in the open bathroom and great Molton Brown products. Everything was top of the bill.

Let’s not even start about breakfast: this was amazing with delicious little dishes, fresh produce. Even after a dinner at de Librije, I could still make space because everything was so delicious.

After checking out, our care was ready; there were magazines and 2 bottles of fresh mint water in the car. Such a great goodbye.

Will be back next year when we are in the Netherlands!!

Room Tip: Just saw our room overlooking the garden (Verveine). I am sure all the rooms are amazing. The hotel...

We stayed one night and loved it. The hotel itself is located inside an ex-women prison, but you could only tell from the (intentionally) preserved metal doors in the hallways. Inside the rooms there is no way to tell: they are spacious (we stayed in a junior Vanilla suit), have all the necessary amenities (coffee machine, mini-bar), a luxurious in-room jacuzzi (you can watch tv from it), a mini-sauna, nice sound system, new books and magazines to read, lovely Molton Brown goodies...

The service is very friendly and down-to-earth, which is remarkable considering it's a high-end 5 star hotel. They even gave us some verveine-infused water for on the way back.

But the most original thing was the breakfast (not a buffet), a lot of creativity was put into it (which is not surprising considering the 3-michelin star level of the owner couple's affiliated restaurant): mini-pizzas in a box and mini-burgers (fun!), home-made yoghurt, bread, speads and muesli, original juice selection (rhubarb, anyone?), refined menu selection (scrambled eggs with tomato and tarragon, caesar salad etc), and lovely wild berry and white chocolate mousse at the end. Plan to take some time to enjoy it not in a hurry.

Located approximately 7 minuted walking to the city center, you can explore the historic city at your convenience.

Room Tip: Consider paying a little extra for the (junior) suite, the jacuzzi and the extra space are worth it...

We celebrated our first wedding anniverary with a dinner at The Librije and a night in their prime Magnolia suite. Just one word from check-in untill check-out: perfection.

Everything is absolutely worldclass. We were blown away by the attention to detail and the service on every level. Dinner of course was excellent as well, but the combined service of restaurant & hotel tops it off. To have the waiter ask you if they should fill your hottub already when you ask them for after-dinner coffee and then have a deluxe car drive you around the corner without asking (or charging) you is a decadent pleasure I could get used to. Thansk for a memorable anniversary, we will be back soon.

Room Tip: Probably all rooms are good, but we really enjoyed the huge Magnolia suite. For a special occasion...
