We stayed at Pension Banning over the weekend whilst visiting a large exhibition and congress in Amsterdam. Most of the rooms have en-suite facilities in the rooms but for us, although we had private shower rooms, we had to leave the bedroom and walk down the corridor a few paces to reach them. When we booked, Loek Banning went to great pains to ensure that we were aware of this limitation so no problems there. We knew what we were expecting.
My own room was a single and was adequate for the few nights stay. It could not be described as spacious!
It was a B+B, rather than an hotel so if you are expecting full hotel facilities, you will be disappointed. That said, as a B+B it is very good. Breakfasts were particularly good with a side selection of types of bread, fruit, a selection of cheese and cold meats.
Parking is available in the drive but if there are more than two cars, it becomes necessary to block people in. We had to do this and Loek asked us to leave the car key with him so the car could be moved if needed.
Location is good. Zandvoort is a small town and the town centre is no more than a pleasant five minute walk. We were in Amsterdam and the drive to the RAI centre through rush hour traffic took around 30 minutes.
Clientele was mostly German and Dutch tourists. Being British and there in Zandvoort on a business trip, we were very much in the minority. Not many Brits stay at the Pension Banning. That said, in common with most Dutch people, Loek and Harriet speak excellent English and were most welcoming and offered excellent local advice.
If you want to avoid paying Amsterdam hotel prices but to still have somewhere comfortable to stay that is within commuting distance, then Pension Banning is an excellent alternative.
Try to get one with the bathroom actually en-suite. Most of them are, but two have their bathrooms d...
