“Great hotel - amazing value for the money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

It was a nice hotel. We booked it even though the last reviews weren't that good, complaining about the hotel being cold and the breakfast horrible.
We found this to not be true!
The room had a nice temperature and was very modern. The breakfast had been changed, since the latest reviews, to a breakfast-buffet. There was a lot to chose between and we thought the meal was satisfying. We also had dinner at the hotel restaurant on the first night and agreed, the staff were not always the quickest people, but they did a good job. And we both got good food.
The hotel is very close to Zaandam Station and it doesn't take more than 2 minutes to walk from the hotel to the station. We didn't get to see any of the surrounding areas during our trip, as we were in other cities all day.¨
I'm a smoker and really loved the Smoking Lounge in the hotel. It looked classy and it was a very nice room!

Overall,
it's cheap, it's comfortable, good meals at reasonably prices, close to the train station and away from city noise.

Room Tip: We booked via booking.com, that suggested a room for two people which we chose. It was for couples...

We loved this hotel! We booked 3 nights and stayed 12! Don't be put off by the fact that it's not in the city of Amsterdam because it is right near the station and even when you add the train ticket to the price of the rooms it is still cheaper than staying in the city AND you will stay in a spacious, new modern room. Not to mention, the suburb of Zaandam is lovely. On the otherside of the railway is an outdoor shopping mall with great shops and restaurants, including a large supermarket with everything you need.
The restaurant has delicious food and reasonably priced.
If you need to wash your clothes there is no laubdromats in Zaandam but plenty in Amsterdam who will wash your clothes for you while you do your own thing.
I hope they keep the price down, as it's an absolute bargain! The staff are lovely and welcoming. Can't wait to come back, we would stay here again no question.

When we visit Zandaam, we usually stay at the Inntel nearby however this was much cheaper at the time of booking so we thought we would try this relatively new hotel. We weren't expecting much but it wasn't too bad.
Firstly its very near to the train station so great access if you are walking. The room was a comfort twin room which had an electronic safe and a fridge. There was no kettle in this room but no major problem.
What I didn't like was the bathroom. It has clear glass with shaded panels to protect your modesty however at some angles you can see in. The sliding door to the bathroom serves no purpose as you can still hear everything. I prefer some privacy when I wish to go to the toilet or shower.
The soundproofing is not great like most hotels as we could hear next door and also people passing the room in the corridor. Glad I brought my earplugs.

If you have to check out but your flight is not until later they have a luggage room. But this is not secure at all! Firstly you would assume that it would be on the ground floor - No. We dragged all our luggage to reception and were then informed that it was on the 1st floor. We were given a card to get access to this room. There were no staff there so your luggage is not very safe as anyone could go through your cases or even take them!

We did not try the food or bar whilst here so I cannot comment on this. We were given a 2 for 1 drinks voucher on checking in. There are plenty of nearby places to get food and also an Albert Heijn supermarket.

On the whole, this hotel is good value for what we paid of 105 euros for 3 nights but as it gets more popular no doubt the price will increase. There are not many hotels that you could get for that price. Worth a stay if you can get a good deal!

This hotel was awful, when booked hotel online it said that a free airport to hotel shuttle was offered but it was a lie therefore we had to pay about 80 euros, when mentioned to hotel reception they did not care and were not willing to do anything. They said its wrong yet they still haven't changed those details. On top of everything staff were very rude. We stayed for 2 nights and the room was not cleaned, and on top of everything prices for a simple plate of pasta was ridiculous. Do not advice anyone to go there and for sure will never been going back there.

Firstly let me say that this hotel was cheap - amazingly cheap by Dutch standards. However, this hotel is far better than many hotels that cost three or four times the price in Amsterdam. Its only been open a couple of weeks and the rooms are spacious by Dutch standards, modern in design and exactly as pictured on their website. They are fitted with a modern bathroom with walk in shower, free wi-fi and a large flat screen TV with loads of international channels.

I found the staff to be really friendly and helpful. I don't understand the complaints about breakfast. It cost 10 euros (again cheap by Dutch hotel standards) and it was an all-you-can-eat style with cereal, bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, cheese and meats and you could even do your own waffles. It has a nice bar with separate smoking room, and you get a two for one offer when you check in.

I paid around 25 euro per night for my six night stay. As mentioned i've stayed in, and paid a heck of a lot more for, far, far worse hotels in Amsterdam. Its right next to Zaandam station and it takes about 15-20 mins from the front door to Amsterdam Centraal by train, and during the week the last train leaves Amsterdam at just after 1am (a lot later at weekends).

Its really rare I'll be happy with a hotel stay in Holland (normally overpriced and shabby unless in a good five star) but I found this place amazing value for what I paid.

The co-operation between staff is very poor and onceyourthereyour room only gets a 5 minute clean each day, no hoovering, no bed made, and no surfaces wiped. I also ordered breakfast at this hotel which was very disappointing to say the least. It's allocated to you, you get 1 tea or coffee, 1 croissant, one roll, and a slice of cheese and ham with a cold boiled egg. Couldn't be more simple. And the staff within are most rude and unhelpful.
I would definitely say the price represents the service, or lack of it.
Good on price bad on quality.

I was very surprised that this hotel has only been open for a couple of days when I checked in recently, yet the smell of fresh paint should have given it away.

The hotel looks nice from the inside, although it has that typical modern Dutch look about it. I was booked in a very spacious suite that even had it's own kitchenette, which is somehting I appreciate very much, because I sometimes like to skip the "standard" hotel dinner menu, and shop out a the local supermarket so that's really a plus.
The bar is open till 1 am and offers a large selection of drinks, coupled to an inhouse fully seperated smoking room, which is always a winner with me, so you don't have to stand outside like a leper.

The one main negative point was the breakfast: hoping for a nice and large breakfast buffet I was very surprised to fin none of that at all, only you are given a plate with one hard egg, one slice of cheese and one slice of old ham. When asked if I wanted coffee or tea I replied water, a large bottle please, which was for some reason not possible... So a big big turnoff the breakfast.

So to resume, very nice business hotel with very nice suites, with only one big main negative: the breakfast!
