“Not entirely free”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

Read a review below that implied that everything is free...well, visiting the inside of the windmill cost abt. $7 euros, had no gift shop to speak of & was freezing cold. The copper foraging shop cost euros too but we passed on that.

If you want to experience windmills, souvenier shops, wooden shoe woodworking demos, the quickest & lamest explaination of cheese-making ever and a fairlly decent dutch crepe restaurant all in one location, then you've come to the right place...also tour buses teeming with folks from all over the world. They even have a small play area for kids (has jump ropes, little bowling game, stilts).

Grandchildren enjoyed this but I could have passed on it. Had done all of this in Oregon/Washington State with, I might add, a considerable more friendliness than experienced here.

“Dutch Culture”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

A great day out for all the family. Charming yet educational. Picturesque surroundings with a landscape that goes on for miles. The sky is low in Holland. Warning: A resident of Holland made the error of calling it a 'museum' which 1 of the workers did not take kindly too, reminder her that this was a viable business.

“quaint”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

Loved this place. Had read previous reviews on here but not many people had heard of it! Very touristy, but that aside, this is what Hollands about. Beautiful sights, windmills galore, cheese shops and clogs. Very cold during our visit, but sunny. Our three children all enjoyed going to top of windmill and I enjoyed the clog shop, watching them being made and picking up souvenirs. A must do trip if visiting Amsterdam.

“Highlight of my vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

You must visit the Zaanse Schans. This village charmed me beyond words. Souvenir shops aplenty but not needed as long as you have your camera to capture all of the windmills, craft shops, and workers dressed in traditional garb. Make sure you tour the wooden shoe shop, the inside of a windmill, the cheese store, and whatever else strikes your fancy. Bring money, you wont be able to help yourself from spending though it is possible to visit absolutely free. There was quite a bit of rain that didn't both me in the least but others might be inclined to prepare for inclimate weather.

“Windmills every where”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

The village is busy with tourist coming to see the working wind mills, plenty of souvenir shops on site. There is a huge yellow clog and one can hop into it and take out awesome pictures.
