“Good for business stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

I stayed there 3 nights during a business trip to the Netherlands. The hotel had everything more than I need for my purpose and it serves well for business travel people who only need a quiet, comfortable place to sleep. Rooms are spacy, and it even has a kitchen, sofa, cupboard and a Hi-Fi set. The staff was professional, the whole are is quiet, and you are just 5-6 minutes walking distance from the train station. Breakfasts are simple but sufficiently OK.

We stayed at this hotel, which is located in the city of Hilversum for 5 nights; we were visiting friends in the area. It seems to be a predominantly business-centric hotel located in a residential neighbourhood. Hilversum is close to several national highways thus quite convenient to many locations in the Netherlands by car. The hotel is also a short walk to the train station, which affords you an easy trip to Amsterdam or the airport. Thus if you packed lightly you would not even need a car. Hotel rooms in Europe tend to be smaller than those that Americans are accustomed to, however our room was a nice size. We had two twin beds together for what is called a 2 person room. The bed was very comfortable and the room quite clean. There was a desk, chair, wall mounted TV, (Dutch television is broadcast in original language with Dutch sub-titles, BBC, German, Belgian channels) a wardrobe (with about , water kettle with instant coffee and tea bags and very surprisingly, a mini refrigerator. Our room had only a shower vs a bathtub, but for us this was not a issue. I noticed other rooms with tubs, so if that is your preference, you may wish to specify this upon making your reservation. The bathroom, while large, had only one very small shelf over the sink and no countertop, cupboards or other surface upon which to place your toiletries, this is not terribly convenient for a guest staying for more than just a day or so. Also there was no hair dryer, which is surprising for today's business hotels. There is free WiFi available throughout the hotel. The breakfast buffet was excellent with many choices including some type of egg, breakfast meat, fruit, dairy, cheeses, and a vast selection of breads. Hotel breakfast are a bit expensive at €14/person/day but not unreasonable. There is a small bar next to the lobby and other meals are served in the hotel restaurant, but since we did not eat any other meals there, I cannot speak to the quality. The reception area/lobby has some seating though the space is not attractive feeling more like extra furniture is being stored there. There is a computer and printer in the lobby and free off-street parking, which is good since a lot of the neighbourhood has no parking on the street. The staff is friendly and helpful and has with most Netherlanders they speak English. I could only find a local Dutch newspaper in the hotel but a variety of newspapers in several other languages is available via a short walk to the Hilversum main train station. It is also a short walk into the center of town where there is a shopping district and many restaurants restaurants and cafes, including Doppio Espresso on the 's Gravelandseweg, where one can enjoy a Sunday morning coffee along with the newspaper freshly purchased from the train station. For dinner, a restaurant a short walk away, Restaurant De Jonghe Graef van Buuren, has always been great though unfortunately I did not get a chance to go back there on this trip.

we stayed for 3 days in this tidy hotel. rooms are very cosy, clean and you have all you need, the free wireless internet is a big advantage, the acoustics between rooms is not great. We came for biking in the area although weather was not great, we loved it

Room Tip: face to the front

If you value a hotel with personality and a staff that treats you like a true guest, this is absolutely the best place in town (and better than most I've stayed at in Europe). The breakfast was always delicious (I never eat breakfast, but I couldn't resist each of the 5 days of my stay), and the dinners were truly fantastic.

Wonderful!!

This pleasant three star hotel in 7 minutes walking distance from the Hilversum train station has got it exactly right! Set in a leafy and quiet neighborhood, it offers well-priced and well-furnished hotel rooms in a new and old part of the hotel. The old part in this quirky property has no lift. i stayed in the new part, in an amply furnished room.
Breakfast -for which I unfortunately had no time, but looked nice- is reasonably priced at 14 euros and the bar -with very nicely priced drinks- is excellent. Room service? Why not take up a very large beer or a 'double' wine in an equally large glass? I bet you'll get some complimentary peanuts.... Staff are very friendly and excellent. I wouldn't have minded to stay another night and test out the restaurant. Next time!
