This hotel is across from Haarlem's train station but has NONE of the seediness that's usually associated with areas around train stations. The day and night staff are cheerful and very accommodating, and speak excellent English. The breakfast buffet is vast with numerous options though the automated coffee machine was not very good. Still, it will keep you quite full well past lunch. It's a standard business hotel, so don't expect Haarlem quaint, but it was very comfortable. I felt quite safe here as a solo woman traveler. The area is quiet, and there is a computer with printer on the 2nd floor for last minute printouts. The room has a safe for your laptop There are a number of take-outs near the hotel, a supermarket with late hours 3 blocks away, and it's a pretty and quick walk to the center of town. The train to Amsterdam is across the street, and in the same square, there is a public bus that takes you to the main airport too for super cheap (not convenient if you have a lot of luggage because it is a public bus and does get packed). Haarlem is an early town but Thursday night is the late shopping night. And stop at an ATM before shopping, the everyday stores (convenience stores, small carry-outs) are not into credit cards (there are many bank ATMs around the town center). All in all, it was a lovely stay and I would happily return with my family.
