“Stopped in for a cappucino on a cold day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

This place was a really nice respite. We had been walking around Enkhuizen, which is worth the effort, BTW, after seeing the Zuiderzee Museum. They were quite busy serving meals at the time. When we told them we only wanted to stop in to get something warm to drink, they brought us right in. The restaurant and bar are in several historic-looking rooms. They probably were historic. I can't comment on the food, but I can say, the people working there were extremely nice. Most people seemed to be Dutch and not tourists. And the inside of the building was quite attractive on its own. I just wish we had the chance to go back later for a meal.

“Warm & friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

As visitor from N Z I looked around at other places first but appreciated the decor, the good service and the good fare. My visit was in April 13th 2012. I enjoyed the goat cheese croquettes, the raisin bread and then port dressing with fresh salad. Complimentary stuffed olives with garlic herb butter and rolls were also served. A good glass of Grimbergen Dubbel completed this fare.

People who complain ,and notably it is the stuffy English ,should think what would be the fare in their over crowded class conscious environment.

“Food quality varies, serice slow”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012 via mobile

Money seems to be the key word for management once your in. (

too) pricy food with great descriptions on menu but when ordered it is hard to find all ingredients, tastes, and experiences back on your plate. Why? Leave out if you do jt have it, I don't care. When questioned, staff is not impressed and merely shoulder srugging over it, almost amused about your ignorance.
If they would take off at least 10% off of their prices, than you would care litte less. Now it seems too pretentious.

Since the place seems very populair I guess managemt does not care over slow staff. Waiters do not look around to find your desperate look for some service so half meal time is wasted in flagging down staff. Or you will find yourself at bar to order drinks and shake up waiters hanging with the locals. Will not change too.

When bread no longer seems to be to be complimentary, you will notice that on your check, no advise on which quantity of water to order so you will learn from the check, 1 extra fries for large ordering group: on the check!
Not ok.

Great coffee, ok wine, changing beer selections bottled and drafted. Good steak, good fries, good salads. Not excellent, good.
Atmosphere good on winterdays, kind of dark in summer and spring.
