Recently spent three nights at the Aemstelhuys B&B and first of all I’d just like to mention the location which is quiet, pretty central and ideal for couples searching for relaxation.
The room we stayed in was in the basement of the proprietor’s charming townhouse. The benefit of this room was that it had its own front door meaning you can come and go as you please without worrying about bothering anyone. En-suite shower room was small but had an excellent shower and plenty of clean towels. The room itself was large with a lovely comfortable bed which made it quite tricky getting up for breakfast. But that was no problem as Lesley (the owner) graciously served breakfast when we staggered out of bed (11am on the first morning!). Tea and coffee making facilities are rare on the continent but Aemstelhuys had these facilities and a welcoming jar of cookies… perfect for the munchies!
Breakfast was as good any continental breakfast we’ve had with a fine selection of cheese, cold meats, preserves, glorious fresh bread and great coffee.
I’d recommend this B&B to any couple wanting a change from soulless hotel rooms. If the room had a small fridge for fresh milk and bubbly then that would help move it to perfection. Can’t wait to return for another chillaxing weekend in Amsterdam. Thanks Lesley.
