“Nice boutique hotel with a great decor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

Stylishly decorated hotel with a great location and easy access to public transport. The hotel staff are friendly and the rooms very clean. Free wireless connection and there is a safe inside the room. Good breakfast which was included with the room booking. Elevator is small and cramped, so do not bring too much luggage with you. I only stayed for a night (this was in February 2014) but got a good feel about the hotel. Would certainly consider staying here again.

We just stayed 1 night. The room we stayed in wasn't large but provided all that was needed. The only thing the hotel could do something about is the position of the tv. The curtains are constandly hanging over it. Breakfast in the morning was more then complete, fresh bread, muesli, eggs, fruits, yoghurts, etc., the even had sojamilk!

Room Tip: We stayed in 206, in the inside of the hotel. Perfect if you want to sleep at night :-)

Hello, and thank you for the review! The soy milk was my doing, so I am glad that other people are asking for it!
As for the curtain behind the TV in room 206, I will speak to the maintenance department and see if we can fix that. Thanks for the heads up!

Until the next time, hopefully longer than one night,
Amanda

Very modern and stylist hotel. We had a standard double room, the room was very small but lovely! The bed was the comfiest thing I have ever felt, the room was warm & the shower was amazing (waterfall shower) it was very clean, the staff were very friendly & always happy to help you with anything. Breakfast was very nice & the lobby was a nice place to sit & chill.
My only gripe was that they were doing building work on one of the top floors which they started at 7am for 2 out of the 4 mornings. But I would definitely go back again!
Location was fantastic tram stop right outside which takes you all around the city.

This hotel has a very young vibe and you may be fooled into thinking this is an upmarket hostel. The downstairs area with a bar and open fire is very convivial and a good place to hang out after schlepping around Amsterdam. Our room, which was an extra large double, wasn't the most comfortable I've stayed in. The floor had a black lacquered surface which was pretty cold underfoot and the double bed was two singles, side by side with separate single duvets. You may be disappointed if you have come for a romantic weekend! Despite the spaciousness there were few places to put things and nowhere in the bathroom to put toiletries and make up. The road outside is a little bit noisy, but not terrible. The breakfasts were extremely nice, fresh, varied and plentiful - croissants, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, cheese, ham etc. The staff are also very nice. Overall this is a good budget place in an excellent location near the cool Pijp area.

Room Tip: Top floor facing away from road. Avoid the basement

Read the excellent Review by Daniel D further below for details - suffice to say I had a perfectly pleasant single night stay at this hotel.

Free tea and coffee at the bar/lounge area (with a great open fire arrangement) - very friendly and helpful staff.

I did have an issue on check-in - they sorted it out with good humour and moved me to a better room at once. How people react when there's a problem - that's the sign of a good place!

Don't expect too many luxuries - no room service, nothing too lush, but still perfectly comfortable and good value.

Room Tip: Bear in mind the rooms are smaller than you might expect - the Loft option looks really good value.

We stayed in a large double. The room was not the biggest, but fine for a weekend. Would not book a standard room that is even smaller. The decor was nice. Specially liked the lobby with the fireplace. Good service at the front desk. Needed help to print a voucher, got fast service. Breakfast is included and plentyful.

So, where shall I begin. Yesterday was my birthday and me and my girlfriend planned to go to Amsterdam for a day or two. Hotel V (Frederiksplein) seemed like the perfect option. Both locationwise- and it sure looks beautiful when you scroll through the different photo's online. Luckily our high expactations were matched by a great stay!

When we arrived (late: 11PM) the night watchman was really helpfull and although we know our way in and around Amsterdam- he insisted to speak on some typical tourist hotspots. Most of which he disliked, because it was overrated he sayed. He made some jokes, we laughed about it.

When we entered our room (Loft V1) we were welcomed by a birthday note of the Hotel V crew (how lovely, thanks guys & girls!). The room was spacious and looked amazing. We absolutely love vintage material- so the living room chairs were a big plus and the old school globe bar was a great home accessory. It was not 'too much' of a vintage-orientated room though. It had a nice kitchen and practical closet. We enjoyed the living room fireplace before we went to sleep. There is some noise outside (public transport, tram), but it doesn't bother much (there are earplugs available in your room, if you disagree). Last but not least... The rain shower, perfect.

The breakfast was not too extensive, but it had pretty much every (basic) food you wish for in the morning.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in Hotel V (Frederiksplein) and would recommend it to everyone that's interested. The location is also spot on- as it offers you great streets by walking distance (Utrechtsestraat, Albert Cuypstraat (market) and the Rijksmuseum at 1KM walking distance). We would definitely book again.
