“Tiny, tiny rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2012

Me and my partner stayed at this hotel for 1 night back in March. The hotel itself has a lovely lobby/bar area which was fantastic to sit in on an evening before we headed out as the hotel has a great fire in the middle of the room with sofas curving around it. Very relaxing.

The big downside (and probably a reason why I wouldn't stay here again) was the size of the bedroom. Well I did choose the most basic room deal but this still cost me around £90 for 1 night, the room pretty much only fit a double bed in it and it had a very small bathroom, the room was underground and we could hear any conversations that other guests were having in their rooms next to us.

If I could turn back the clock I would have chosen a room in the upstairs area of the hotel, much more pricey but I guess there would have been more room.

I would recommend going to this hotel just to use the bar facilities and lobby/fire area though.

Room Tip: do not choose an underground room

The hotel has a nice lobby and very friendly staff. That's pretty much the only thing positive to say about the hotel. Lived in a standard double room and it was so small that I'm glad I was alone. Would not have been enough for two. There is no chair or table in the room and no space for luggage. The only thing in the room is an uncomfortable bed. The bathroom was dark and sad with a bad shower. Suspect that this is an old hostel which has been having a coat of paint and after that has subsequently been able to market it as a "design hotel". In the part of the hotel where I stayed, there were some very steep stairs and no elevator. The breakfast was ok, but nothing more. Not worth the money.

Room Tip: Standard double is to small for, ehh, two persons.

We were delighted once we found it. Very unassuming from the outside, but very funky and cool inside the reception/restauratn area on the ground floor without being cold or unwelcoming. The staff were very thorough, articulate and fiendly on everything from directions and trains to restaurant reservations. Tram stop is acorss the street, and metor metro only a few minutes away. The breakfast was bountiful, fresh and tastey. Our room was in the back building, so it was very quiet. Bed was very comfortable. The only fault I would have is the rooms were so stylish that they were a bit impractical, e.g. there was only one tiny little shelf above the sink, there was no towel hook by the sink. These sorts of things are minor in my opinion, but may be important to others. Overall, it was very enjoyable and comfortable for 3 nights we stayed. I highly recommendit!

I'm trying to be objective... the service is up to the level : nice, young and friendly staff ; free wifi ; comfortable lobby when people can meet, have a good breakfast and enjoy the the fire in the chimney. Unfortunately, the rooms are terrible; this hotel has a huge conception problem. The rooms have pretty much all defaults that can be found in a hotel : extremely small, very noisy, uncomfortable bed ... on top of all, we were in the basement; No possibility to sleep before midnight or after 5am because of the noise upstairs. That's too bad; such a good service; but service is not all in a hotel ... far from it.

Hotel was easy to find (tram stops right outside) and very convenient for town, restaurants etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Free 24 hour tea and coffee was a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent. Rooms (we had standard doubles) were very small with modern (black) decor. Too small to unpack much. However, service was good and beds were comfortable and clean.
