“Excellent stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

While waiting for our city tour we decided to cross the canal and have a late breakfast at de Prins. Service was quick and friendly, the food was very good - apple pie & coffee not recommended this early in AM! - and sitting in the sun by the canal cannot be beat! The only drawback - the bathrooms leave much to be desired!

“Cheap beers and good food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

We stopped for an early-ish dinner at this cafe after a day exploring Amsterdam on foot. They had a good selection of Dutch and Belgian beers and with Heineken at only 2 euro 50 for 25 cl, it's very reasonable! We shared the house fondue and a slice of the Dutch apple pie which were both excellent. Only complaint was that the menu was a bit limited. Wasn't an issue for us, but can see others finding this troublesome. Atmosphere was a good mix of locals and tourists and they had a very friendly and helpful waitstaff.

“Different!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2014

Had a couple of drinks here. It was very busy with locals having lunch. In need of redecoration and re-wiring! Not sure how we in England have to comply to EU standards yet other countries in the EU don't appear to. Good place to stop for a rest and re-group.

“Nice place for a great tasting lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

Love the décor, could be more. Had the roast beef brodje and a cheese and tomato tosti. Food was great, beer was cold. Service was good. Will return. Lots of locals, large parties did not appear to rattle the staff, customers are patient, but everyone got what they ordered in a timely fashion.

“Great Locals' Pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014

Lots of tasty beers to try.

The food is good.

The service is faultless.

The downstairs/toilet area leaves a lot to be desired - it's pretty grubby.

It gets pretty full in the evening, with lots of locals meeting friends. Clientele appeared to be aged 25+

We stopped here 3 times in the 5 days we were in Amsterdam. Twice for lunch and once for drinks.

I'd go again. I'd also recommend it to friends.

I'd give it 5 stars if the downstairs area was cleaner.
