5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013 via mobile

had a wonderful experience..6:30 pm on a Sunday evening...group of 7...had reservation for only 5...no problem

group had 4 different entrees...each of us was delighted with what we got....the fondue folks were especially pleased

unpretentious decor, great food, great service, reasonable prices....what more could you want?

“Decent food right on the canal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

Had a nice lunch in the middle of the afternoon here. Ordered beef croquettes and my wife had a toasted ham and cheese sandwich - both were perfectly adequate. Price with two beers was 18 Euros - not great, not bad. We dined here in February, and I'm willing to venture that it would be a completely different experience had we been sitting canalside on a warm June day. Add a star if you're there during warmer weather.

“Excellent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We went to Cafe de Prins for an early dinner before flying back to London. It has a great location and the food was unexpectedly good. Although it is very close to Anne Frank Huis, it feels like a typical dutch cafe with the regulars at the bar and slightly gruff service. All in all a good choice.

“Welcome Gem for a Dismal Night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

Cold and windy evenining in Amsterdam saw us walking about this part of town where we had not been before. Felt a call from this Cafe with its old Amsterdam charm, first for a drink but then could not tear ourselves away. Spent evening in company of locals, truly friendly and embracing ambiance with service to match the personal standards this cafe takes as its own. We started with blue cheese fondue into which we sunk with paroxysms of delight, before taking of on a flight of fancy with roast duck and finally brought down to earth with tender steak beatifully pan fried. All the sauces served in this cafe are to write home about. All made for a cosy, intimate and memorable evening. We will be back!
