“Nice and cozy on a lazy afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012

A bit hard to find though.. There 2 Rainarai in Amsterdam, the one in the prinsengracht is smaller. But I like the ambiance more in the other branch. It is indeed pricey but if u come before 18:00
they serve small meals like the one I had which is Algerian chicken. It was lovely!!! and cost only 6:75 as far as i can remember. Service is a bit slow though. but would definitely comeback :)This is a nice place to hang out in the summer time.

“Well thought out dining experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2011

We had a lunch here, but we could have happily sat there all afternoon. We liked the way the building had been converted to create a airy and really groovy restaurant. Cool touches like the outside open fire with the huge pot of chicken casserole/soup cooking, made it a great place to hang out. I think it would be fantastic for a big birthday meal.

I had a feta salad and I really appreciated the addition of yummy extras like the smoked almonds, dried apricots and pomegranate. Quite a limited lunch menu but why over complicate things! Went with other New Zealanders, and the staff were very good about the fact that we couldn't speak Dutch and that we asked for then gave them advice on how to make the mysterious flat white. The restaurant seemed a little under staffed, causing a few errors and forgot bread moments.

Lots of space to park your bikes.

“TOTAL RIP OFF”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2011

We've walked past this place a few times and been meaning to try it out.
We sat down and ordered the one and only dish on the set menu (un-priced) which consisted of a rather small portion of fish, potato and beans. We were disappointed as it looked great was quite bland but nearly died when we were charged €50 for this, four drinks, plus €2.75 just to sit outside!!!
TOTAL RIP OFF - Thank god the (really slow) waiter forgot to bring us the Baklava we'd ordered as that would probably have been an extra €20.
Maybe they thought we were tourists?...I don't know, but we won't be going back for sure.

Delicious dishes from Algeria, excellent the pumpkin served with cous cous!! The service is a little bit slow but the waiter is so kind that it worths the waiting.
We paid for 4 dishes with some drinks € 52, sounds good for healthy food in Amsterdam!!
