“A nice find in a very cute alley”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

If you just play it by ear while traveling, it is very refreshing to stumble on a delightful find of any kind. In this case, a restaurant for hungry weary travelers. Tucked in a wonderfully picturesque alley, directly across from a Gothic church, we found a hopping place that we figured was good.

Greeted by an owner/manager and subsequently by a very energetic and personable waiter, we settled in nicely near a window with a view of the church and passers-by. The food was very good and presented with flair, both visually as well as in regard to personality. An enjoyable meal to say the least

“Great little find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

This little restaurant is behind the Old Church in Amsterdam. Our concierge at the Hotel Krasnapolski recommended it, and we were glad. It was our first night in Amsterdam, so we were glad it was close to the hotel, but it was also a great little meal. The weather was great, so we ate outside in their little seating area across the alley. The salad was one of the best we'd ever had - interesting, varied, delicious. Service was the best of any place we ate in Amsterdam, and the meal was light and quite good. We highly recommend it!

“fabulous find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We came across this by chance on our first night in Amsterdam.. It looked so appealing from the outside we felt we definitely would give it a try... no regrets at all... lovely ambience and excellent service.. I had a leek and potato soup which was absolutely delicious and then a entrecote of veal with a lovely salad and fries... Worth every penny

“A Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

We stumbled across the Cote Ouest on a dreary rainy day. The restaurant has a lovely warm ambience and the service is excellent! I had a fish soup that had a flavourful broth and a generous portion of delicious fish. My husband had steak frites with the steak cooked to perfection. There was a steady stream of people coming in looking for a table and we were not in the least bit rushed. All of the servers are very pleasant and professional. Our excellent meal in this great restaurant made our day! We would highly recommend it.

“Lovely ambience, great food, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

On the first night of a long weekend in Amsterdam, my sister and I stumbled upon this lovely looking little place. Turned out to be a very lucky find.

Service was friendly and attentive from the off, letting us choose the area of the restaurant to stay in. The main menu is in French and English (possibly Dutch as well - I didn't notice!) but the daily specials blackboard was only in French. We had a couple of queries and the waiter was very helpful.

We both opted for the mussels in garlic butter to start. They were simply presented, and absolutely delicious with lots of garlic. I choose the rabbit daily special, while my sister choose the fish of the day - sole. We were both very pleased with our choices. The rabbit came in a lovely mustard sauce, with baked potato and a couple of other vegetable accompaniments. The sole was fairly plainly done in plenty of butter, but I was assured it was delicious. For dessert, we both had melt-in-the-mouth thin crepes done simply with lemon and sugar - absolutely divine.

We shared a bottle of white wine and a large bottle of sparkling water, and the bill came to almost exactly €100. Not the cheapest meal in the world, but very reasonable for Amsterdam - especially given the quality of the food and the service. Highly recommended.
