We had a lovely evening in this popular Dutch restaurant. It is unpretentious in the extreme and very down-to-earth. The theme is really 'just like mother made' and it doesn't fall short on any level.
We had the comforting warm pea soup to start on a cool damp September evening... followed by two Dutch home cooking favourites, Suddervlees and Stamppot, with dessert to follow all washed down with beer.
Nice touches all round - like the wall bedecked with photos of diners' mothers which had been brought in by regulars, and the down to earth crockery, none of which matched... Brilliant. If I lived in Amsterdam I'd be eating here all the time - and my mother would be on the wall.
