“Good food, not afraid of being authentic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

Located in Amsterdam's Chinatown, right by the red light district, New King came up as a nice surprise. The restaurant is modern and well kept, we walked in about 9 pm and it was pretty crowded still, we didn't have to wait long for a table. service was slow and indifferent at the beginning, but once our waiter arrived, service got a lot better. Their dim sum appetizer is good, I had a hot and sour soup which was very good and their tenderloin in pepper sauce was excellent, just as spicy as it needed to be. The portions were very well served and it was about 30 euros for one person without drinks

“Great value and great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

This restaurant is opposite the temple. The food is great value and the portions are very big. We visited on NYE and had a great meal. There were lots of Chinese people ordering large take-away meals which was a great indication that the food was going to be good.
We had great service even though the restaurant was busy and this place was a vibrant experience. The food was delicious and the quality as well as quantity is recommended.

“Quick & authentic one”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

Went through amsterdam and wanted to have a quick luncheon. Bumped into this really authentic chinese restaurant, which attracted us because a whole family of roasted ducks where hanging in the window facing the street. We ordered obviously all varieties of roasted duck: Soup & rice dishes. The stuff was extremely kind and very streamlined. All in all, very good place for a quick & authenic luncheon.

“big portions of good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

firstly, this place is always very busy, people queuing in the door way. We were given the option to wait or put our name down and come back in 45 mins. When we came back we went straight to a table. They serve so quickly for a fast customer turnover so if you like to linger and spend time this might not be the best place for you. I can recommend the hot and sour soup, prawn spring rolls and kung po chicken. The meals all come with boiled rice so we tried to change it to fried rice. Maybe a misunderstanding or language issue meant that we were served boiled and fried rice paying for both they didn't swap it. A lot of food was wasted due to the portion sizes, much larger than UK sized meals, leave the starters if you are not a big eater.
