Was wandering down Overtoom on a cold, wet, wintry Saturday night, rather regretting ignoring the warning on here that restaurants close early in the Netherlands, when I saw the warm, inviting lights inside this restaurant. I was tempted in by the range of vegetarian options and, even though it was 10 pm, I was welcomed warmly and told it was no problem. I was offered a vegetarian platter, which has a mouthful of all their veggie dishes served on enjera (a large, slightly sour pancake): lentils, pea paste, spinach, cottage cheese, a root vegetable, peppers... It was wholesome, hearty and filling. Extra enjera was served on the side.
I loved the coconut beer served with a slice of lemon in a coconut shell. A nice touch was all the last diners were served a bowl of freshly-cooked popcorn which had a minty taste - a refreshing end to a meal.
Main courses were from 8 to 15 euros; with 2 beers and no desert I ate for 20 euros.
