“nice and so homy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

i'm an indonesian so i think this place is quite good, it's worth the price, the food are delicious, esp the mie bakso, the gado gado wasn't that good. the place is clean, strategic, very homy, the owner is so kind and friendly. I would recommend you to try.

“Meh... not fresh.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

The lunch portions are tiny (I think I could've eaten 3 meals), the food tastes pre-packaged, and the service is just ho-hum.

Skip Sie Joe.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

I werk near this restarent. I know this famliy restaurent more than 23 years. They make fresh food
every single day. Two weeks ago i finish my job and do not want go to home. I eat diner there,
rice with chicken, vegitables & egg. Tasty and spicey food.....
I am very satisfied and not expensive in the city center of Amsterdam near Nieuwe Kerk & Palace.
This restaurent close early(9 p.m). They have some seat in street for smokers.

“Disappointing....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Maybe some of the food is prepared fresh (I saw the microwave oven being used quite often) but it was overall disappointing. I've had Indonesian food multiple times in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia and even Indonesia) and this place cannot compare. The satay was dry, soto ayam was just plain oily without much flavor). The nasi goreng looked good.... I was hoping for some comfort food but was disappointed.

“If you like Indonesian food, this is the place for lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

We visit Sie Joe on a regular basis for almost thirty years now. It's a small restaurant where they serve a limited amount of excellent, authentic Indonesian dishes. It tastes delicious. The food is prepared freshly in front of your eyes. They close early in the evening, so it ain't the place for a large "rijsttafel". Go there for lunch during shopping or for a quick dinner at the end of the afternoon when you are planning to go to an early movie.
