We found this place in the lonely planet guide to Amsterdam. It looked very quiet when we first went in, but when we headed to more seating upstairs found there it was actually quite busy. The majority of people eating there had clearly dressed up a bit for the occasion, which we definitely hadn't done having spent the day exploring the city, but this really wasn't a problem at all. The food was excellent, and pretty reasonably priced. The waitress reeled off the list of speciality wines, but if this isn't your thing you can ask to see a wine list which has options to cater for most tastes and budgets. 2 courses came to €28 + complimentary appetisers and pallet cleanser between courses. If you want something really fancy they offer a set menu of 6 courses with accompanying wines for €99 a head. The staff were really friendly and considerate. If you want quality fine dining in rustic surroundings - this is the place for you.
