Description: One of Amsterdam's most remarkable restaurants, situated on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam, the Ciel Bleu Restaurant has been awarded two Michelin stars and, much like the adjacent Twenty Third Bar, offers a stunning panoramic view of Amsterdam's city centre. This breathtaking vista and the luxurious design, together with the personal hospitality, all combine to create a unique atmosphere. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant's ambitious kitchen staff serve a unique take on French cuisine, prepared with seasonal products and characterised by its innovation. The Sommelier's professionalism and close cooperation with Executive Chef and Manager Onno Kokmeijer results in a perfect harmony between wine and food. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant also offers three luxurious private areas: the Starlight Room, the Salon Panoramique, and the Chef's Table in the restaurant's kitchen.

“Ciel Bleu - Second time AMAZING!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2014

We just came back of our dinner at Ciel Bleu and it was SPECTACULAR!

We have eaten there last year when we visited Amsterdam at remembered it was an amazing restaurant. When we came to eat today we was pretty sure that it won't be as good as we remembered it to be, but they topped that dinner.
Amazing products, amazing ingenuity in the dishes - every dish is spot on.
It's not cheap but it's worth every penny.
We go a lot to Michelin restaurants but this is our favorite one.
Highly recommended!

“Pretentious rubbish”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

It is said (though it is probably a myth) that when Europeans arrived in Asia with firearms the locals were impressed and quickly built their own - made of wood.
The impression you have in Ciel Bleu is that they visited a lot of Michelin starred restaurants and came away with the idea that all that was required was to create very complicated dishes with lots of ingredients and extremely verbose descriptions to go with them - taste, imagination, service etc were all unnecessary. I suffered through an enormously long meal made up of boring and pretentious dishes with no taste until I could take it no more and left - there were still more dishes to come on the menu degustation I had chosen (and I had to pay for them) but at least I did not have to eat them. There are better restaurants in Amsterdam and, if you want a true Michelin star experience there are plenty of places to go elsewhere - just do not go here.

Dear JamesXXI,

We truly regret that the visit did not meet your expectations. Ciel Bleu Restaurant has been awarded by two Michelin stars for over 6 years and on a daily basis the team of Ciel Bleu Restaurant does its utmost to provide an excellent culinary experience and works in accordance to high standards, however unfortunately this feedback has not been addressed to us on the evening itself.

“wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

Greeted with the most incredible views, and food to match, this is a culinary delight. It was Heston Dutch style. Lots of theatre but backed up with the most delicious tasting food. A wonderful experience. Not too pretentious and beautifully done.
