Description: One of Amsterdam's most remarkable restaurants, situated on the 23rd floor of Hotel Okura Amsterdam, the Ciel Bleu Restaurant has been awarded two Michelin stars and, much like the adjacent Twenty Third Bar, offers a stunning panoramic view of Amsterdam's city centre. This breathtaking vista and the luxurious design, together with the personal hospitality, all combine to create a unique atmosphere. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant's ambitious kitchen staff serve a unique take on French cuisine, prepared with seasonal products and characterised by its innovation. The Sommelier's professionalism and close cooperation with Executive Chef and Manager Onno Kokmeijer results in a perfect harmony between wine and food. The Ciel Bleu Restaurant also offers three luxurious private areas: the Starlight Room, the Salon Panoramique, and the Chef's Table in the restaurant's kitchen.

“Expensive but worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

Took my husband here for a birthday meal. There are lots of great restaurants in Amsterdam, and even plenty of Michelin-starred places, so the choice was difficult. We were not disappointed by Ciel Bleu. Service was perfect - we were made to feel like royalty. Even my handbag got its own seat! I opted for the 4-course menu with wine pairings and hubby for the 6-course menu. Lots of little extras (amuse-bouches, palate cleansers, etc) were lovely, and I particularly liked being offered the choice of 8 champagnes for our aperitif. They even have Krug by the glass! The sommelier talked us through each one before we chose. The wine pairings really made it for me - chablis with the chef´s siganture crab dish was delicious, and Cote de Beaune with the fish course and winter truffles was sublime. And if that wasn´t enough, hubby got a birthday cake to take home, and we were also presented with individual potions of homemade museli. A wonderful evening.

“Ciel Bleu Birthday Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

Great location, we had pre-dinner drinks at the 23rd floor bar before going through to restuarant. The service was impeccable, finely tuned waiters waitresses delivered everything from our napkins, to each dish with style and expert timing. The food was delightful, every dish had an amazing taste and style to it. The Salt crusted Venison was the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately we had to leave ahea dof the petit fours trolley arrived as we had another engagement to attend. It looked amazing. This has gone to our TOP3 restuarants

“Worth the splurge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014 via mobile

Husband and I stayed at Okura at the end of December and to celebrate our (late) wedding anniversary, we decided to dine at Ciel Bleu too.

I am pleased to say that the food was great and wine pairing was excellent.

Overall service was fast and efficient without being too stiff.

The view was rather good, as mentioned by other reviewers.

I really liked the fact that we were given 3 choices of butter and 2 rather exotic olive oil for our bread. Having dined in various Michelin starred establishments, this was the first time this occured.

All in all, the whole experience was worth the money and we would go back again given the opportunity.

“Excellent food in microscopic quantities”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013 via mobile

What a pity that the chef is not more generous: the fantastic gastronomic preparations come in very small quantities. This is a restaurant for small stomachs!
The restaurant has a nice view over Amsterdam and the service is quite attentive, in the edge of being pretentious.
We chose a four course menu and a wine arrangement. Both the food and the wine were great, but while the wine is served in normal quantities, the food was so minimalistic in the portions, that we did not get the satisfaction of a high quality meal. For the price to pay, a very poor reward.
