“Great food, great value, busy and exciting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

This place is hopping! Expect tight communal tables, lots of noise and activity, and great spanish food in the red light district. Everything (paella, garlic shrimp and more) was perfectly prepared and the service was quick. Nothing great to look at from the street, inside expect an experience that perfectly mirrors the controlled chaos that is Amsterdam.

“Red Light Fiesta”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

It seems slightly incongruous to find an authentic Spanish restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam's red light district but there it is: a kind of Hemingway with clogs on! Packed out by tourists, trippers and various expats opposite a store selling magic mushrooms no better place to eat after a hard day on the bongs. The paella was brilliant and authentic with just the right sticky rice consistency. Place was packed so harrassed service was slow but worth the wait. Almost expected to see Romero in a suit of lights pirouetting past the gawping red light tourists as they let the bulls through the streets. . Try the paella or the ham all the dishes are authentic and good value for money. Over to you Ernest...

“Perfect Ambience, Scrumptious food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

A local at the bar in our hotel recommended this place and after a little trouble finding it, we were really pleased with the warm, cozy ambience, smiling, friendly staff & wow! the food--classic Spanish. Get the seafood bowl or paella & the sangria--best sangria I've ever had, authentic & not too sweet.

“Original and simple Spanish food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

The atmosphere is typical Spanish: a simple restaurant with typical Spanish waiters. But the food is nice, also simple. But simple does not mean bad: you still need to know how ta make a good paella: and that is what Centra can make.
My friend choose paella, I had a stew af meat and vegatables: you can say that the sause is a bit fat, but that is also typical Spanish and gives you part of the flavour.

As starter we had some simple tapas. The alioli was a bit strong: but is you use some bread and take some of the very good olive oil, a bit alioli and peper, is is very nice.

The restaurant still is there after many decades and the food is still the same: Centra has a lot of regular customers who come back.
