I just returned from a visit to Amsterdam and the Garden View bnb. The room was perfect for our visit, and the balcony added an extra touch. The nicest part of our stay was that the Garden View was not in the center of town; it was so nice and quiet after a busy day of sightseeing. It was an easy ride on the tram to everywhere we went on the #24. After a full day we would sit on the balcony with a glass of wine. We got to see how the locals lived. I would get up early in the morning and walk one avenue to the bakery to get a fresh pastry, and neighborhood restaurants are very good. Nessie was absolutely delightful. Her morning breakfasts were a special treat, and her boiled egg was done to perfection! Everything was neat and tidy. On my next trip to Amsterdam, I would absolutely reserve a room at Nessie's Garden View. Just be aware that the steps up to the bnb are steep and small.

i travel along in europe for a month, someone local help me find this B&B Place. it was help me a lot location is convenience and clean. the Owner Nessie she was really helpful, breakfast was really good. she only have 2 rooms but i stay in west side have great time when i am in amsterdam. area is really quite and clean it's different then if you stay in center of Amsterdam. when i am in amsterdam i was stay in center for 3 night place call "FREELAND" place is really small, and price is same. compare to here it's much better you need stay and know it's out side the amsterdam center near by Airport 7 mins by train. train station is call Amsterdam Zuid you can take tream 24 and go the center from the B&B Place. really nice walk afternoon or evening everytime i went back place. i will recommed this B&B place to everyone coming from US, lady speak good english no any problem. bathroom is clean and palce is nice. will go back again
Thanks Nessie......Tina from Los Angeles

Immediately upon our arrival, Nessie spent time orienting us to Amsterdam (it was our first time there) with maps, dining suggestions, and tram routes. Her property is located close to the Zuid station, and only a 20-minute walk from Vondelpark and Museumplein in a quiet residential area safely away from the noise and bustle of central Amsterdam. She served a delicious breakfast in our room, which included bags for us to pack up any un-eaten items (bread, cheese, meat) for sandwiches.

There is a shared bathroom between the two rooms, but we never saw the other occupants and felt like we were the only ones there. The shower has a large, deep tub and the everything was extremely clean. We are officially spoiled and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere but here when we visit Amsterdam again.

  • Liked — Nessie's hospitality, breakfast, and being able to use the Museum Card.
  • Disliked — The stairs to the front door are steep, which could be problematic for older or disabled travelers. The lock to the front door is a little tricky!

Our weekend stay at the Garden View was more than we could have asked for. It is located a short train ride from Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam South and has great tram and bus connections to all of the must-see sites in Amsterdam and beyond. Upon booking our stay, Nessie the owner gave perfect directions to the Garden view. The first time we took a taxi (we had big luggage), but upon checkout we took the wonderful stroll over the water and through a lovely neighborhood.

Nessie had everything prepared for us and immediately gave suggestions about what museums and sights to visit on our short trip. Whether it is a fabulous Indonesian restaurant or the Van Gogh Museum, she has the knowledge of living in the area for many years to steer you in the right direction.

The Garden View itself looks like any apartment building in Amsterdam on the outside, but once you step into your room it is anything but ordinary. If you want to feel at home then this is the place. And although I am not a big fan of shared bathrooms, we hardly ever saw our fellow guests, a nice German couple. The shower area is nice and large and she gives big towels with washcloths that I am used to in the states. If you forget any toiletries then she has them.

Our breakfast was a nice continental one, with warm bread, boiled eggs, yogurt, ham and cheese, juice, and coffee or tea. Even though it was winter and we were not able to see the garden area in bloom, we were definitely warmed by Nessie's hospitality and the comfort of our accommodations that felt a lot like home.

  • Liked — The comfort of the room and the location (not to far from the attractions while still having privacy)
  • Disliked — not much

My first trip to Europe started in Amsterdam and was a wonderful experience, thanks to Nessie. She helped us with "things to do" and "places to go". Her hospitality was warm and inviting and the daily breakfast was a delightful experience itself. I truly hope that someday we will be back to visit Nessie and wonderful Holland.
