We stayed at the fantastic Funky Chickin at the start of July.

I am always a bit nervous about booking accomodation on line... but Lina made the whole process so easy and really put me at my ease with regular e-mails on our lead up to our stay. When we arrived we were really pleased with the accomodation. It was really clean,in an excellent location in the centre of Amsterdam and very well equipped with modern decor and appliances. Yes the stairs are steep... but it wouldnt be a typical Amsterdam house otherwise. It all added to the charecter of the place.

Lina was awesome... so friendly and really helpful but completely unobtrusive. A really great person.

We will DEFINATELY be going back ... as soon as possible.

I recently stayed at the Funky Chickin with 2 friends, it was a great location close to Dam Square, central station and the red light district - but far enough away to get some sleep at night ! Facilites were great with a kitchen area, towels, hairdryer and even umbrellas provided. I would go back and stay here again Lina was lovely and very helpful.

I stayed here with three of my friends for three nights in February. This was a GREAT find on hostelworld.com.

Travelling as an American spending Euros is not very enticing right now but Funky Chickin made the horrible exchange rate less of an issue. For the same price as hostel accomodations, you get your very own studio apartment with a small kitchen. The kitchen includes a small fridge, microwave, stove and utensils. The location couldn't be better. The main trams are right around the corner that take you to museums, Central Station is a 10 minute walk and the red light district is a 5 minute walk.

Our room was on the top floor (3rd floor for Americans or 4th for Europeans). This was the only negative thing about the Funky Chikin. The stairs are typical Holland-type stairs - which means they are VERY steep and VERY windy.

Lina (the "owner") was proactive and sent me an email right after my booking went through. We arranged to meet at Central Station upon arrival from the airport to the city. She walked us to the apartment (10 minute walk) and made sure we got settled (and gave us a helpful map and some dinner suggestions).

Just come back from Amsterdam, after driving through Europe, stayed for two nights. Very impressed with the funky Chickin, very central, great atmosphere for an apartment, dvd, tv, little kitchen.

Very comfortable place!! There's everything you need!!
Full optional XD !! Hairdryer, towels, shampoo, soap, glasses, tableware...EVERYTHING!!
Kitchen and bathroom are very clean!!
There are also TV and DVDplayer!
It is in the centre of the city, near the central station, shops and supermarket..You can go everywhere in only 5 minuts!
The front of the building is old, so you can see and live in a typical dutch house!!
If I return in Amsterdam I will go there again!!
