“Well-kept hostel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013 via mobile

A big hostel with nice staff, good breakfast and nice rooms. We were on a choir-trip and liked it a lot for its price. It is a little too far from the city center but the nr 14 train passes right outside. They were helpful with letting us store our bags a full day.

My stay was ok, The staff were average on friendliness and helpfulness -They did what they had too and were not overly enthused to do much more in regards to best attractions or transport etc. Common areas of hostel were kept very clean though my room wasnt so good as we had 1 particular man that was a PIG and smoked in the room which made it pretty stale n smelly. Being a smoker myself i still did not appreciate this and when i informed staff, nothing happened. The room was not cleaned at any time for the 5 nights i was there so the toilet was putrid as was the shower. I chose to use the common bathrooms EVERY TIME in bar area as i could at least know they were hygienic. It was extremely hot in the rooms with very little fresh air ever which made it extremely uncomfortable to sleep at night.
The services provided were great including breakfast, common areas for wifi use, playing cards etc.

The hostel rooms are clean and comfortable, however the hostel is in a dodgy area and is overpriced for its location. The staff were almost comatose and couldn't have cared less about long queues of people waiting for their help. One particular woman with short curly hair was unbelievably unfriendly and made you feel like you were causing her an inconvenience every time you needed any help. Most of them just stared blankly into space ... It was bizarre.

The Hostel was great. Staff were prepared to deal with doubts and requests. Breakfast was excellent and bedrooms were clean and nice. Moreover, it had great common areas.

The hostel is not close to the city center[even though nothing is very far in Amsterdam), but it's very simple to go there, either by tram or bus.

There are things to do close to the hostel, such as bars, or even at the Hostel[there is a nice bar inside].

Great hostel in a great location. The front desk staff is terrific and very helpful. The lobby is filled with kids on computers and it has a great vibe. Breakfast is great and served very college dorm style. The rooms are fine. Bunk beds and showers in the rooms. I traveled with my 17 year old son and it was good but the average age of the guests was probably about 21. This hostel is walking distance from great restaurants and bars and the tram comes close by in case you want to go anywhere else. It was a bit noisy at night with kids running the halls.

Wasn't aware of a three-month-long Tram 14 diversion (due to road construction) and a 15-minute trip from Centraal Station turned into a 40-minute trip. Going back with that knowledge it was just a 15-minute trip on Bus 22.

Was in a room for two. Enough plugs to recharge devices as room was designed for bunks and had two extra lights/plugs. However, the room provided absolutely no place to hang any clothes and the bathroom provided absolutely no place to hang any towel, not even when showering.

Free wifi was common area only, but speed was enough. Staff was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was satisfactory.
