“An absolute bargain in the heart of Amsterdam!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2011

This hotel is ideally located for visiting Amsterdam. Whilst basic, my hotel room looked exactly like the picture on the website (there have been some reviews stating otherwise). I stayed in a single room, so maybe the variations in room may exist for doubles.

The staff at the reception area in the Pub were always were friendly and helpful. Although, like some other reviewers I’m still not sure how the security works…you request the keys to a particular room number and whoever is behind the bar hands it over.... often the staff would change…so how could they verify that they were giving the key to the right person?

There is so much to do in this area and everything seemed to be a short walk away. It is in the heart of the red light district with many canals and restaurants very close by. I arrived from the main train station and walked to the hotel in around 10 – 15 minutes. Whilst there is a lot of noise and action outside the hotel, I could hardly hear anything from my room.

The steps to the rooms are very narrow and steep…not a huge issue for me, but would require careful attention if carrying full size luggage.

When you consider the location, tidiness of the rooms, and friendliness of the staff for the price charged, this hotel is an absolute bargain.

When next in Amsterdam, I will be back!

Brilliant location for this hotel, in the Red Light District.

Basic room, which was good for the price. Website is slightly misleading as it says the rooms are provided with a shower and a toilet - my room had shared facilities. You need to leave a 20 euro deposit for the remote control for the TV, but I didn't want to watch TV, so didn't bother.

Steps are extremely steep, so bear this in mind if you have trouble with stairs.

Didn't have breakfast here, so can't comment.

But if you are looking for a nice, clean, comfy room for a basic price, look no further!

Stayed here for a weekend with the boys.
It's clean but basic. For the price, the location is brilliant if you want to explore the RLD and surrounding area.
No, its not a luxury hotel but it doesn't pretend to be.
Both rooms we had were nothing like the photos on the website but, like I said, they're clean and are somewhere to shower and put your head down for the night.
The stairs in this hotel are very steep and would not be suitable for the less mobile.

Central, clean & quiet (at least it was two floors up, at the back). Bang in middle of Red Light District and 5 mins walk from station.

Easy to find to hotel - right in the heart of the red light district. I was looking forward to the 70's inspired room as seen on there website but unfortunately it didnt meet my expectations. Our room was very basic and had not been decorated for years -and was nothing like the photos. The room overlooked the main street which was noisy until the early hours but wasnt a problem for us as it added to the atmosphere ! We felt that the room was expensive for what we got (£75 with no breakfast) I would recommend that you research well before opting for this hotel.

This is a bar with eleven?? hotel rooms upstairs. All four reviews are correct. You check in with a lady behind the bar. She was nice and helpful. Very steep steps. One luggage per person & use the handrail to be safe. Single bed room was tiny by US standards, huge by Tokyo standards. Basic sleep accommodation, Euro type low sitting bed. bare desk, hotel, one lamp, a wind-up clock that needed to be wound, clothes closet. Bathroom vent was loud. High water pressure, very hot water. Comfortably heated, regulated by opening the window. Barred window had ugly view of roofs. Window bars probably a good idea since I might climb out the window to get on the roof. Since I'm in the middle of the RLD, I expected city sounds. Got the expected ones, and none of the unexpected, thank goodness... sirens, woman shouting/fighting in street, church bells ringing, distant car horns, street sounds, etc. Have to leave key with bar each time you leave. Very quiet in dawn/early morning. Street & hotel construction ongoing. Paid 55 euro for Sunday night stay. Would I spend that on this hotel again... possibly. Amsterdam is a great city. But I think I'm ready to stay in other parts of the city.
