Sharmila and Alex are wonderful hosts. We truly felt like guests in their home during our stay the second week of May. The room was immaculate, comfortable and very spacious. I do a lot of homework before booking accomodations for our trips. Believe me, we were not disappointed with this choice. The Suites are in a very nice neighborhood and Amsterdam is very walkable. There is a little Italian restaurant within a 3 minute walk of the Suites which Sharmila recommended. We loved it. Do yourself a favor and stay here. You will not regret it.

i absolutely loved this place ... it really is the best of all worlds ... great furnishings (you would have them in your home) ... great food (abundance of) ... great company, insight ... and you get all this while being able to maintain a tremendous amount of privacy ... the owners couldn't do enough for us ... recommended and made reservation in a restaurant (they gave local opinion of highly rated zagat restaurant - not worth it) ... organized airport runs ... best yet ... they greeted us at the door ... you must be xyz ... my favorite stays in the world are five star boutique hotels ... this was better ...

Just come back from a truly wonderful long weekend in Amsterdam. What an amazing city! We spent the whole trip wandering and cycling around in the beautiful spring sunshine. It was bliss. Our trip was made absolutely perfect by our stay at Fusion Suites40. We booked the hotel based on the fantastic reviews on this site, and all we can do is echo what's already been said. Our room was huge, and beautifully decorated, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Sharmila and Alex, who own the hotel, were helpful and charming and did everything they could to help us. Breakfast was a real treat every morning, with something different on the menu every day. And Sharmila even presented us with a perfectly chilled bottle of champagne to complete the hotel's thoughtful hospitality. It was a really great place and we'd go back in a second. Many thanks to other Tripadvisor reviewers for their recommendation.

We stayed 3 nights over the Bank holiday. Having read the reviews and seen the website (--), we took the plunge and called up Sharmila directly to book the grand suite! It's best to book directly with the hotel than via the agencies.

We arrived early (10am) at Fusion Suites and Sharmila & Alex were both there to welcome us. As the suite was still occupied, we were offered the most wonderful muffins and tea/coffee. Truly hospitable!

The room was most amazing. We stayed in Room 1 which had a huge lounge area and the most amazing four poster bed. Everything had a personal touch, there were fresh flowers and free Internet. The complimentary champagne and free minibar was certainly a nice touch.

Each day's breakfast was different and we couldn't ask for more variety. Having freshly squeezed orange juice certainly made all the difference.

When we left, we were given souvenirs of Holland. The whole experience was more like a stay with some great friends, Truly recommended!!!

For restaurants, we tried Ciel Bleu in Hotel Okura. Although it was a michelin starred restaurant, the prices were not astronomical. We had the gastronomic menu which was very reasonable, and with the amuse bouches included, we were totally stuffed by the end of the night. There is a direct tram from the hotel (#12) to the restaurant which is really convenient.

If you are tired of traditional Dutch or French food, Casa Peru at 68, Liedsegracht is a refreshing diversion (5 minutes walk from hotel). The cerviche is out of the world!
