“Fabulous Fusion Suites!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights after our European river cruise. It's a small boutique hotel with large rooms, with very comfortable beds and sitting area, and large bathrooms. Alex and Sharmila are delightful and accommodating hosts and prepare a most scrumptious breakfast spread with homemade crepes, eggs, fresh fruit, cheeses, breads, yogurt, juice, and fresh coffee; you eat in a beautifully restored kitchen. Rooms are beautifully decorated with a modern yet retro style. Fusion Suites is in a clean, safe neighborhood; and we found it easy to walk everywhere - specially to the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum. Close to excellent restaurants. Absolute perfection!

Where to start...location is great, situated within walking distance to all major sites and transportation points. Owners are amazing and so helpful, they are warm and welcoming and you really feel like you are taken care of. The rooms are beautiful and spacious (the bathroom soaps etc being l'occitane did make that extra special touch). Breakfast was delightful...shamila makes the best breakfast and u get to eat it in the most beautiful kitchen, it's also the best meal of the day (the crepes are that good!). Overall I will definitely be coming back here, and if anyone wants to get a great feel of Amsterdam u have to stay here.

Fusion Suites is perfect in every way. The suite we were in was large and comfortable. The location near Vondelpark is less hectic than in central Amsterdam. The entire city is just a short bike ride or walk away. The hosts could not be more welcoming and helpful. Stay there. You will not be disappointed.

We visited Amsterdam at the end of a 2 week trip to Croatia and were overwhelmed with the incredible attentiveness of Alex and Sharmila and the exquisite perfection of Fusion Suites! My husband and I have stayed in many places, and this was one of the absolute best ever - our room on the top floor was spacious and perfectly decorated, and our every need was anticipated - from special toothpaste and high-end bathroom amenities to a computer to complimentary champagne and wine with fresh fruit and olives to environmentally sensitive bed linens, mattress, pillows and towels, and on and on. Sharmilla is such a perfect host that when I one day hand-washed a sweater she noticed it in the shower, made sure it dried without shrinking and had it ready for me to wear on my return to the room!
Breakfast was at a time for our pre-selected convenience, and each day not only did we have fresh fruit, hand-made crepes, cheeses and meat selection, yogurt, granola, herbal teas and a full-on coffee bar selection, but eggs and bacon on offer and a special treat - one day it was teeny round "puffies" sprinkled with Grand Marnier and powdered sugar, all served in the most beautifully appointed "retro" kitchen, with fresh flowers everywhere.
We walked everywhere we wanted to go (museums, churches, canal sights, etc.) despite the rain, using umbrellas provided by our gracious hosts, and were always glad to return to our "home" in Amsterdam. Alex and Sharmila know so much about Amsterdam, what is open, what to see and when, that they were invaluable guides and able to not only answer our questions but made many suggestions about what to do in our limited time so we could take full advantage of our short time there. They also are experienced travelers, and we loved talking to them over breakfast or whenever to swap travel stories!
This is not a big, impersonal hotel but was just like staying with dear friends who have perfect taste and hearts that desired to make our stay in Amsterdam something beautiful and memorable. They succeeded! Thank you, Sharmila and Alex!!

This charming small boutique hotel has a lot to offer for the discerning traveller. Set in a wonderful old building which has been refurbished to a very high standard, the attention to detail is quite immaculate. Beautiful high ceilings, large windows and spacious rooms compliment the luxurious interiors. Our grand suite was very spacious, with an extremely comfortable king-size bed, a seating area and spacious bathroom with lovely soaking tub. This was a lovely place to spend 4 nights in Amsterdam. It was incredibly quiet and very relaxing so you could properly wind down after a hard day sightseeing. We were so surprised at how quiet it was at night, the building is clearly very well insulated. The complimentary wine, champagne, soft drinks and nibbles were an added touch of luxury and very appreciated. It was also spotlessly clean though out.

Breakfast in the kitchen was a nice start to the day and we were grateful not to have to get up too early as Sharmilla was happy to accommodate us getting up later in the morning. The breakfast was more than enough to keep us going for most of the day with fresh fruit and yoghurt, fresh meat, cheese, smoked salmon and rolls and croissants etc. etc. Alex’s pancakes were truly scrumptious and eggs were also on offer if you wanted.

For those who have never been to Amsterdam, Fusion Suites is in a lovely position right on Vondelpark. At the airport the quickest and easiest way to get to the B&B is to take bus number 197 (outside Schiphol Plaza bus stop B11). This will take you right to the Concertgebouw (Concert Hall) in the Museumplein. The ride takes about 30 minutes but saves changing trains/trams etc. Get off at the Concertgebouw and turn left, Fusion Suites is a 5 minute walk down this road on the right (you have to cross over as Roemer Visscherstraat intersects and runs across both sides of this main road.) The bus trip is 4 Euros per person and they give change so you don’t need to worry about having the right money.

Amsterdam is a small city and you can easily walk everywhere. From Vondelpark to the Central Station (pretty much the furthest point away in the city) is only about 30 minute walk. Take comfy shoes though as the roads are mostly cobbled with tram lines criss-crossing everywhere and a nightmare if you have heels on! Everyone cycles everywhere so watch out for the bicycle lanes. As the city has so many canals, trams and bicycles are the preferred mode of transport and this makes it a very relaxing place to visit compared to most cities and so much quieter without the noise of all the cars.

Alex and Sharmilla have put a lot of thought into providing a touch of luxury for those who appreciate the nice things in life. This is really a B&B (Guest House) at hotel prices but well worth it as you get the best of both worlds – top end hotel room quality with the privacy and personal attention of a great B&B. It was one of the most relaxing places we have ever stayed and we would not hesitate to recommend it.

We stayed for 2 nights. A very warm and friendly greeting. The hotel is off a quite road but walking distance to all the sites of Amsterdam. Room was beautifully decorated and surprisingly large. Clean, comfortable and extra goodies are placed in the room - definitely not your "typical" European hotel.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the city and hope to come back again ourselves!

Room Tip: Room 3 was amazing
