I really want to start with the few positives, as the majority is going to sound negative. What also has to be taken into account, is the hotel is in Amsterdam which is relatively expensive compared to the rest of Europe. But at the same time on face value here is my review;

We checked into the room after arriving at 7am in Amsterdam from Sydney via Malaysia with a 10 month old, so we really appreciated that they had the room ready including the baby cot. The bathroom was a decent size and very clean. The reception team were very friendly and knowledgeable about the local surroundings and Amsterdam in general.

Transport is actually relatively easy though it’s a little out of the centre, really close to the zoo. Take the No.9 tram from Amsterdam Central (which kind of goes more vertical across or the No.14 tram which travels more across town.

Now for the bad.

This hotel was so run down and whether it was the wall paper peeling off, the baby cot which fell apart the third day (with the babe inside, he’s okay). The room being exceptionally small (though probably normal for Amsterdam). The rooms were also damn, and rather hot and sticky. The heating was set on too hot but didn’t take away the humidity or dry out the room – unless you open the window to 6C fresh air, you feel like you’re in sauna.

Toiletries are not replenished at all, only once per stay on arrival. We stayed for 4 nights.

For those with heavy luggage and there are a few narrow stairs to negotiate before you get to the lift. This was a major drawback every day with our pram (push chair) and baby. Once you get the lift, it only fits the push chair and a very thin person, so the second person either has to wait or take the stairs.

Last negatives is City Tax, though I know Hotels have to charge this, it did come as a surprise at checkout. Many hotels have a sign on the front desk so it’s clear to the customer on check in and you can be prepared for it.

Sadly I would not recommend this hotel, even when you compare it only to Amsterdam Hotels.

Room Tip: We were facing the Tram tracks and road, though it was noisey, it wasn't too bad. Though we did...

I arranged a trip for 18 friends to stay at this hotel whilst in Amsterdam. The recent reviews worried me immensely to the point where I tried my best to find another hotel right up to the day before we left. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised! This hotel was exactly what I was looking for. Rooms were small but clean, friendly staff, perfect location, great cafe opposite....couldn't have asked for much more for our trip. Don't be put off by recent reviews unless you are a couple wanting a romantic trip with room service and bubbles in a bath. I've stayed in some great hotels but you're in Dam and for a group of friends this place is great. Perfect for a place to sleep!!

I will not reccomend this hotel. The room was small, not clean and with very poor service. Morevoer, it was very noisy because we were located in the first floor and we hear the door openning and closing when the rest of the customers went into the lobby of the hotel, or came from the lobby to their rooms. It is more like a hostal, but a very expensive one for the poor service.

This hotel was not cheap at all, and I had expected a higher standard. Positive was that the staff was very friendly and helpfull. The rooms were small and we had to move rooms because of some mixed up bookings. Bathroom small, but clean and fairly new. The room itself low standard and no meals availablle,

The hotel has been quite good, but the price wasn't the same price was showed in your site. When I've reserved the room I ask for paying at the location, and once arrived at the hotel I had to pay 400€ instead 296€ shown in your site. This is strange, don't you?

Ok firstly, I never write reviews but people should know about this hotel. It's disgraceful.

- 3 slugs I had to remove from the walls (Yes slugs, those slimey things that belong outside in the garden)
- 1 massive spider I had to remove from the outside facing door (it was huge)
- there were around 20 woodlice crawling around the floor/skirting boards and behind bed
- the wood skirting on the floor was moulded and falling apart/off
- the room smelt of damp and was cold. I would sweat at night through the damp and it caused me a cough
- the air conditioning could not be used to heat the room because it smelt awful when switched on
- the whole floor we stayed on smelt like damp and was cold
- our towels had many holes in them
- the wood around the bottom of the floor was in terrible condition. mouldy and flakey pain
there was a dirty tissue left on the desk when we arrived
- there were many black flakes of dirt underneath the bed sheets on the mattress
- the mattress was brown stained badly
- the bin in the bathroom was rusty and flaking off
- the view out of the window was of a complement dingy dumping ground. falling apart wooden children's apparatus and overgrown weeds.
- the walls were falling apart and badly repaired
- the room was dark and depressing with one single gloomy ceiling light
- the facilities and furniture were shockingly old
- the free wi-fi would cut out and not work
- when I complained that I had spent nearly two-hundred euros on this room the reply i got was 'We're still the cheapest in the area'
- the staff would not help us or move us to another room
- the manager would not reply to my email / complaint

Please see the photo evidence that i have attached and make up your own mind.

My advice to you. Spend a bit more and get a clean hotel. This is a shocking hotel. So dirty and battered.

I'm still shocked a week after leaving.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and stay somewhere else in Amsterdam.
