“A great hotel, in a quite street,in the center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

The Best Western Leidse Square Hotel are some old, beautiful houses restored into a Hotel in a quite street, near the so called Leidsebosje, two minutes walk ( over the bridge) to the Leidse-square and one minute walk from the Vondelpark.
The lobby is very small and the pc wasn't working. The folks at the desk were extremely kind.
The rooms were big, clean and a pleasant temperature .
We will be back :-)

Room Tip: Asked for a room on the 3rd. or 4th.floor.........

Stayed for 2 nights
Great location in a quiet area but not too far to walk to the main square
The hotel staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help with any questions we had.
Room cleaned daily, bed comfortable, tea and coffee facilities available in the room, though the room we were given did look dated and needs decorating, but as we were only there for 2 nights it was not an issue
Good choice for breakfast
All in all a great hotel that we would recommend for a short stay at Amsterdam

Upon arriving we were given Room 1 which is Souterrain or in the basement next to the boiler room. The room was musty and we were forced to use the room for two nights. Finally, the hotel moved us to a much better room on the second floor. We were told that our travel agent had booked this particular room which is definitely not the case. I suspect that when we arrived there was at least one bus tour group and they were given preference because when got the room changed only after the tour group departed.

Room Tip: Insist on a room on the second floor.

This hotel is rated 3 stars, I really don't know or understand how

Start with the positive, location is great

And once we stepped in all went south
No one to help with luggage when you arrive
Staff very rude mainly the gentleman on the from desk when we checked in
Non accommodating with nothing spacial for even Diamond member of the Best Westren group, their answer, we are a franchise not owned by corporate
Not a place for Family with Children
A note, ahead of time was sent to get adjoining rooms because we have kids, their answer split the family with one parent in each room and 2 room next to each other finally with no door in between was provided
Beds are all single even for double room
Mattresses are old and even slide sideways as well as not comfortable
Very small rooms, barely can walk around the bed
No Air conditioning
Elevation very slow too
After all this, I am surprised they are 3 stars with a trip advisor award

This is the worst hotel my wife and I have ever stayed. I don't really want to give it a rating coz it is not worth it. My wife and I travelled to Europe in May 14 and Amsterdam is our first stop but this bad hotel we stayed left us a lifetime memory. We got a tiny little underground room without aircon and window and facing a main terrain. At night you can hear every single sound outside. The double bed is just two single beds put together. We did not sleep at all the whole night and could not wait to get out of this hell next morning. The receptionists are cold and very unhelpful. I came and requested to change the room and they told me the hotel was fully booked out which is absolutely lie coz it was low season back then a hotel like this is impossible to be fully booked. I wish we stayed at a clean backpacker which is much better and cheaper.
Do NOT WAISTE YOUR MONEY on this very bad hotel. You will regret if you do so.

Room Tip: I do not recommend this hotel as it has many poor underground rooms which you might get allocated on...

I could have slept all day as the beds were soo comfy, but I had the explore the city that I came to see.

The hotel staff were very helpful teaching us how to get around the city. The breakfast was very good and you couldn't beat the location. Highly recommend!!
