“Fantastic Hotel.”

Was at the hotel, 3 days / 2 nights. Hotel in good old style, fantastic rooms, good service in reception, bar and resturant. Hotel is not far away from railway station, the old town, ect ect. Will be back later this year I hope.

The hotel is very nice on the outside very historic looking. On the inside it is nice as well but we didn't consider the interior worth the high star rating. The problem I found with the hotel is that our two requests were not even noticed. The air did not work in our room. We were on the ground floor facing the major road. We didn't feel comfortable leaving the window open during the day and at night we couldn't leave the window open for the noise. So when we went to the room that night we asked for it be fixed. They promised it would be and they gave us a 10in fan in the mean time. We got up and I went to the front desk to ask for two sheets to be left instead of the down filled sheet we had. We came back late that day, not only did we not have the two sheets, but our unit still did not work. We called the front desk and they had no record of our requests. We complained the next day while we were checking out, they said they were sorry and is there anything they could do to make our stay better. I told them no because we were checking out. I don't think they cared or just didn't get it. For a high star rating it was a very big let down.

I spent another week at this wonderful hotel, the staff are courteous, friendly and helpful.
The rooms are delightful and cleaned efficiently, the building is a joy to behold and a delight to return to after a busy day out in Amsterdam

The check-in was efficient and the room ok (big compared to other European hotels). Situated on a busy road but the rooms are soundproof. We enjoyed the indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi. Breakfast was good - I requested gluten-free bread and received a freshly baked mini-loaf warm from the oven - excellent! Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Location very good - close to the station and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay.

The hotel and amenities are spotless. The Wellness Center's saunas and pools were very clean and accessory items i.e. towels and robes were plentiful and very clean.
The staff are very helpful; several times I would ask directions or instruction and that member would stop what they were doing and walk me to the location.
We had breakfast in their restaurant and for Euro 16.50 it was a bargain. Fresh meat, fruit condiments and bread......excellent coffee, and as a Seattleite I am very discriminating, All in all a very nice spread.
The room had a complimentary mini bar that we tried to minimize usage of, so as not to be greedy. The bathroom was chrome, mirror and ceramic....also spotless.
We travel 4 to 5 times a year and heartily recommend this establishment.
There was one minor incident, outside the control of the hotel staff because this location was administered by a sub contractor, that the staff acknowledged and promised to pursue and rectify. Any place can have a problem....it is how it is handled that makes the difference.

So, in all a very good stay.
15 minute walk to Grand Central station and about 20-25 minute train to airport for Euro 5. Right on the edge of all shops.

Where do i begin to laud this exceptional hotel?.....From check-in to check out,this was hands down the best Amsterdam experience i have ever had (In 7 visits)...Great location and views,soundproof rooms,climate control.openable windows,magnificent architecture,free (Yes you read it correctly)mini-bar stocked daily,fantastic spa w pool,sauna and whirlpool,3 ply cotton towels and robes,wonderful bath sundries,large comfortable room and bed,large flat screen tv w international channel choices......add the best chocolate ganache ever and management and staff that are as helpful and friendly as can be expected....all add up to 5 star,I'LL BE BACK,Amsterdam bliss....HIGHLY RECOMMEND.....

AND ALSO A GREAT VALUE-ALL THINGS CONSIDERED...BRAVO AMRATH AND SPECIAL THANKS TO ASST GENERAL MANAGER JOY MAROULAS!

We stayed at this hotel for four nights. We had two rooms booked, one a double and the second a triple. Both rooms were spacious and had a free mini bar included in the price. This bar consists of mini bottles of various alcoholic drinks, soft drinks and water. The only food stuff was a packet of sweet popcorn.The triple room had two bathrooms, one which had a shower, toilet and basin and the second a bath and basin. The double room had all of those but in one room.
We didn't use the restaurant so I can't comment on the food or service in the restaurant or bar area.
There is no lobby as such but a small area with a few chairs.
The one issue we did have was trying to find the hotel in the dark. We arrived at the Central Train Station close to midnight from the airport, but couldn't see the hotel and no one seemed to know of it. We finally landed up calling the front desk. The wonderful night manager gave us directions and then came out to look for us as it is around a corner but not lit up. We later learned that because of the historical nature of the building, they cannot put any signs on it. My tip for anyone going to the hotel from the station is to turn left and walk past the Double Tree hotel. Cross the bridge just after Star Bucks and the hotel will be on the other side of the road.
