We got a fantastic deal with ebookers and paid £80 per night instead of the normal rate. We asked for smoking and got a beautiful spacious room with a large bed, full mini bar and fantastic bathroom. It was quiet and easy to get to. We got a lovely view. Didn't get time to try the spa sadly but I'm sure it's excellent. At the price we paid it was amasing but worth the full rate too!

We have just returned from a four night stay at the Amrath. We got a very good deal; 4 nights for the price of 3 with a free upgrade to a superior deluxe room. We arrived at the hotel and after an easy check in we were escorted to our room by a very nice bell boy who showed us where everything in the hotel was located. We stayed in room 319, but when we got to our room we saw that we didn't have an extra bed for our 4year old daughter as we had requested. The bell boy assured us that he would arrange for this to be sorted. We went out for a little walk around to get our bearings and when we returned the bed had still not been delivered. Our room was a bit of an odd shape and when we looked at it we weren't exactly sure where an extra bed was going to fit. Anyway, we rang reception and told them that we were still missing a bed and were assured that a bed would be delivered promptly. We went down to the wellness centre and had a swim and jacuzzi and when we returned to our room, still no bed! We spoke to someone on reception on our way out for dinner and he was a bit annoyed that the bed had still not been sorted and apologised, promising that it would be sorted for our return. So, off we went out for dinner and we returned to the hotel at around 9.30pm, and you guessed it....still no bed! Our daughter was exhausted after what had been a very long day so we decided that the three of us would all just sleep in the king size bed. We phoned reception to tell them to forget about the extra bed and again the receptionist was very apologetic. Anyway, it turned out that the king size bed was big enough for the three of us and that is where we all slept for the duration of our stay. All in all, we saved ourselves an extra 200 euro which is what the cost for An extra bed would have been. The beds are super soft and comfortable and the pillows are great too. The room itself is exceptionally clean and the high ceilings and windows let in a lot of light. The room is well equipped with a wide screen tv, coffee machine, wardrobe, umbrella, trouser press, kettle, remote controlled curtains and of course the free mini bar, which is fantastic! It is replenished every day and contains 2bottles of coke, 2 bottles of diet coke, 2 bottles of sprite, 2 bottles of pure orange, 2 bottles of still water, 2 bottles of fizzy water, 2 bottles of tonic water, a bottle of beer, a small bottle of red wine, a small bottle of white wine, miniatures of vodka, brandy, gin, vodka, whiskey and Bacardi, a chocolate bar and a bag of nuts!!! We made use of this facility bearing in mind that a soft drink in the hotel bar costs 3.50 euro! The bathroom is big with a very deep bath and a separate rain shower and two sinks and a toilet. There is also a very good hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. Again it was spotlessly clean and there were plenty of towels. Maid service was everyday and in the evening someone came round and asked if we needed more towels or coffee. The Wellness centre is amazing! A real luxury in an Amsterdam hotel! There is a fantastic pool, which was lovely and warm after walking around in the freezing cold all day, a sauna, a steam room, a jacuzzi, a gym, and a massage facility, which you pay extra for. Again there were plenty of towels and you get bathrobes and slippers in your room to wear down to the pool over your swimwear. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel as at 25euro per person we thought that was a bit expensive. We did eat in the hotel bar but we weren't very impressed with it. I ordered at steak sandwich, which was lovely, but it didn't come with any side salad or garnish so at 14.50euro I was a bit disappointed. My husband ordered a burger and asked for no salad and for it to be cooked medium to well. It came with salad and was cooked medium rare. I recommend eating elsewhere...you can get better food for less money! In fact, try Restaurant de Portugees which is around the corner in Zeedijk. That being said we were very impressed with this hotel, despite the non-appearance of a bed! The staff are all lovely and very helpful. The hotel itself is beautiful, it is a bit like a maze, and it did take me a while to learn to navigate my way around it, but it is so unique and beautiful that it didn't bother me too much. It was also lovley to be in quieter part of the city and to escape all the touristy spots at the end of the day. It's proximity to Centraal Station is also a bonus if you intend to travel into the city from Schipol Airport by train. I will definitely stay in this hotel again but take note that it pays to shop around as prices can vary widely! We were so impressed that we have recommended the Grand Hotel Amrath to my mum and she has booked a surprise trip there for my Dad's 65th birthday in May! Give it a go, you won't be disappointed!

This is a great hotel. Where do I begin? The staff are all really friendly and helpful, none of the stuffiness you might expect from a "grand" hotel. The architecture and decor is art nouveau, and with a rather cozy reception area it all feels quite unique. Our room was really nice, right on the canal so a typical Amsterdam view, and the hotel operates a fabulous policy of free minibar - how often do you hear of that in a hotel? The breakfast buffet was superb - a great way to stock up for the day! As for location, it is only a couple of hundred metres from the station - really handy for everything, but it the quieter part of the city centre. Overall, superb. Wouldn't hesitate to go there again

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a short break and stayed at the Amrath Hotel Amsterdam to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment of our arrival, we were made to feel very welcome and at home. All staff were very friendly and happy to help. The hotel very kindly upgraded our room, which was very fortunate for us. The room came equipped with a free mini-bar, a beautiful bathroom and 4-poster bed, and was cleaned daily. The hotel is ideally situated for getting to all the main attractions and is very easy to navigate to and from. This was my 7th trip to Amsterdam and I have stayed in a variety of locations, but this is now defintely my hotel of choice! Excellent all round, highly recommended, and very much looking forward to our return.

Last minute booking due to changing business arrangements. Great surprise, very nice hotel, impressive decor. Thanks to the history of the building, one here definitely escapes the "hotel feel" you get in the typical hotel chains. Going back next week!

We stayed at the Amrath for 3 nights and having been to amsterdam 7 times we have judged this as the best hotel in the city. the location is perfect - close to the station and red light. our room was canal view which is an absolute must have as the windows are huge and the canal outside is gorgeous.

we were given a complementary upgrade to a two room suite which was so luxurious - the free mini bar is perfect - with booze, water and treats. Everything was clean & spacious - the bathrobes, slippers and champagne were a really romantic addition.

The building itself huge and full of ornate detail with beautiful stained glass, wood & marble everywhere. the hotel feels very secure and all staff were great including room service and housekeeping.

Room Tip: ask for canal view and ring in advance to confirm your booking - especially if you have booked a che...

My husand and myself have just returned from a short break and stayed at Amrath Amsterdam and are really glad that we choose this hotel for our first visit to Amsterdam. The building is magnificent and retains it's character from when it was the shipping company buildings. We had a deluxe room which was great, free mini bar, the room was cleaned and refreshed daily. The food and drink in the seven seas restaurant or the bar are first class. The spa, pool area are so clean and a delight to use. The whole staff are polite and courteous at all times and really made our stay a wonderful experience. The hotel is ideally situated for getting to all the main attractions
and because it is just that little bit out of the town centre you are not disturbed by noise late at night.
