“An atmosphereless place where you pay for them to do you the favour of letting you stay.”

The hotel is ugly from the outside and in an industrial estate. Having said that inside you cant guess that. However on checking in the staff were not the least bit welcoming. The receptionist asked us for my credit card details then without askingmy permission she tried several times to take €100. Then told me it was declined. I said have you been trying to take a payment? We paid in full when we booked. She said nastily "thats what we do in amsterdam". I had not authorised my card to be used abroad. So then she told us as we didnt pay the 100. We had to pay €11.70 amsterdam tax. Whatever this is. Again i presume this should be included in the room rate.
This spoilt our stay. We were offered breakfast at €18 each. Dont do it. Its only €5 in town.
The bus service is easy and friendly.
The westcord art hotel has nice rooms but they arent up to the standard of a travel lodge or holiday inn by any means. The rooms are small but adequate. Room service is available but costly and they charge you €5 just to carry it up the stairs.
Wifi is easy and free.
Really dont go for a couple or lads weekend. Its a buisnessmans place really empty restaurant/bar and you are only permitted to use the outside terrace if the sun is out in summer months. The welcome folder in your room is like a list of rules. It said it contained a drinks voucher for the bar. But it didnt. And reception are so rude and unapproachable we didnt bother to complain.
This was a honeymoon weekend for us after 2 years of dealing with my brain tumour being removed and further brain surgery last year and removal of part of my skull.
My husband thought he had booked us into a luxury hotel and was very upset by the hotels prison camp regime.
Only stay here if you are claiming expenses. We enjoyed amsterdam. We slept well. But dashed through the doors to our room when in the hotel apart from when the key card didnt work,4 men were trapped in the lift and 8 people were queuing at reception.

I was very happy with this hotel. My girlfriend and I stayed over on a weekend, and I couldn't have asked for more with respect to the price that we paid. Although it would be a long walk from the center of town, the 48 bus stops right outside the hotel every ten minutes, and takes about 10 minutes to get to Amsterdam Centraal.

The room was great - very comfortable with a whole range of amenities. We didn't have the breakfast because it cost a whopping 18€ each, but the dining area looked very nice. The outside area had some kind of pool area, but it did not look very well kept - although October is cold in Amsterdam, it would still have made the hotel look nicer if it did not have a green pool!

I was also slightly concerned with their deposit system - they take your credit card details and then immediately charge you a deposit, even though I was under the assumption that they would just keep the card details on record. I was also surprised when checking out that I was charged 14€ "city tax" - I would have expected something like that to have been part of the advertised price.

I will definitely consider staying here again if I ever return to Amsterdam.

This hotel was our last stay before we returned to Canada. After spending time in London and Paris, we truly enjoyed our stay despite the rain. THe staff were pleasant and extremely helpful and the breakfasts were great with lots of choice. The room was large, the bed extremely comfortable, the bathroom had ample space and the internet worked in the room. The hotel is located about a 10 minute bus ride from downtown Amsterdam but the bus (#22 and #48) was conveniently located in front of hotel. Would not hesitate to stay again.

This hotel is superlative. Rooms are big and confourtable, cleaning services is perfect and the personal very disposable for information and other request. We had a problem with our credit card but they let us pay cash at the check in andour holiday in this hotel has been perfect.... 5 stars!!
