“Lovely hotel and great price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014 via mobile

A friend and I stayed at the Quentin hotel from the 2nd till the 4th of June as our first trip away without parents (exciting!) this hotel is in a great location with a 2 minute walk from a tram stop which goes to Dam Square, Amsterdam station etc. when we arrived we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who quickly confirmed our details and have is our room key. Our room was on the top floor so we had the luxury of not hearing people come in at all hours of the morning! Although the room was small, it was clean and tidy. Our double bed was 2 single beds pushed together but was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and we were supplied with shower gel and shampoo, plus fresh towels and plenty of loo roll every day. although we didn't have access to a safe, we had no problem with leaving items in our rooms without the worry of them going missing. All in all it is a cosy, clean hotel with very polite staff and great value for money. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again!

You get what you pay for. The staff were unfriendly and unaccommodating. The facility did not seem very clean, and the elevator noise was SO loud that you couldn't get any sleep (echoing other reviewers sentiments there). However, the elevator completely broke after our first day there, so I guess we got lucky? They did nothing to communicate the outage, and with how steep stairways are there I was grateful we were on the first floor. We stayed 3 nights and it still wasn't fixed when we left. The room was dark and not terribly clean, but the bathrooms were the worst. There was no separation between the shower and the rest of the bathroom so when you showered the whole floor of the bathroom flooded and got super wet - talk about disgusting. The ceiling fan helped keep it cool but it was difficult to actually get going - old school electrical wiring for sure. There were also wood paneling debris and mops and a whole assortment of crap essentially laying around the floors, so obviously keeping up appearances isn't a priority. It's close to some nice things, but I would not recommend or go back.

Came here with two other mates, the room itself was quite modern, with a nice wet room, it wasn't cleaned though as it still had women's bobby pins and a belly button piercing still in there when we checked in.
The location is great, 20 minute walk from the red light district.
Don't bother with breakfast, ham cheese and bread, no pastry or hot items, awful coffee!
It was good enough for three lads to crash in after a days drinking and smoking, wouldn't take the mrs there though!

Economic Rooms are so small, no sleep because of elevator engine noise in this hotel. Prices seem reasonable but if you can't sleep, it doesnt't mean anything. Receptionist, the lady with glasses and red lips, she was extremely rude. She shouted us. The hotel policy is just taking money, no service, no hospitality...You can find any other hotel in Amsterdam. Please don't waste your money in this place.

Room Tip: avoid from this hotel......

I stayed at this hotel last thursday to sunday.. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by a very friendly man who worked on the desk. We were given our room key and everything was sorted very quickly! Gave us a map and reccommended where to go and not to go. Room was very small but we were hardly there, its only for sleeping in! So didnt mind. Very clean room and bathroom. Fresh bed sheets and towels. Over all i thought this hotel was worth the stay and would visit again :)

Booked via booking.com. Toilet was blocked. Did not resolve issue and had to use public toilets despite paying for en-suite. The hygiene and cleanliness is probably the worst you will come across in the developed world. Booking.com did not help with a solution apart from writing apology letters.

The room was so small. Of course, the hotel is in a former canal house so I expected the rooms to be small, but the bed and pillow were extremely poor quality and the room got very little light or fresh air because it looked onto an alley. The staff were polite but not particularly helpful and there were some days that housekeeping didn't come to my room. On the positive side, the bathroom, although basic, was very clean and the shower had good water pressure. The location is also great.
