“Superb Hotel, made our holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2010

This hotel has everything for a relaxing and trouble free stay in Amsterdam. The staff are very helpful and rooms are excellent with everything you would expect from a prestigous hotel chain like Moevenpick. The breakfast certainly sets you up for the day with every type of taste catered for. We had two rooms both of which overlooked the river and it was most entertaining watching the different types of water transport. Transport is easy with tram stop opposite the Hotel and only one stop into Central Station area where you can catch a bus or tram to anywhere in the city, or train if feeling more adventurous. The canal boats stop nearby too, although it is only a 10 min walk to the station anyway. Haarlem is well worth a visit and only costs 7 euros return, we went on a Saturday when there was an excellent street market. Both bikes and Segways can be hired from closeby the hotel, although the latter is quite expensive and we did not see anyone on them in Amsterdam.

This is a fantastic hotel, it is modern, very well decorated and all the staff were very well mannered. I would recommend anyone to stay here, however it is a little bit of a walk into Amsterdam itself, about 15 mins walk to the main Amsterdam station and tram stops. However this is maybe a plus point if you want to be away from all the bars and coffee shops.

This hotel is beautiful, modern, clean, etc...

We got it through bidding for a hotel in Amsterdam's city center on Priceline. It is actually about a 15 minute walk from the city center, which wouldn't be a big deal but it gets old if you are staying there for an extended period and want to go back and forth. Overall, I loved it but would recommend for someone staying only one night in Amsterdam. If you are spending a few days, get a fun canal house or a hotel that is in the middle of everything -- it is worth a little bit of extra money.

But we loved the room, and found it very comfortable.

a lovely spacious hotel. we were asked if we would like an upgrade to a superior room or breakfast. we chose breakfast but on day two of our three day stay we were told that we were excluded from breakfast. the restaurant staff were very reluctant to sort out the problem for us..after two phonecalls and much embarrassment to us it was finally sorted. we were 3 females sharing a room but on arrival the room was only set up for two..we rung reception straight away and it it took 2 hours for the towels, cups, glasses etc to arrive and 6 hours for a kettle. the room was spotless..buffet very nice...but best get your own coffee!...a great stay..just a shame about the hiccup

I booked this hotel for a weekend away with the wife through Last Minute and got a great deal as one of their "secret deals" which doesn't usually tell you which hotel you're staying at until you've paid, however this did. I know the Movenpick from previous visits to Amsterdam so knew it would be a good choice. I wasn't disappointed. We walked to the hotel from the train station, go out of the bottom exit towards the river, not the top entrance towards the Damrak. If you go out of the bottom entrance it's about a ten minute walk, go out of the top exit and its about a 25 minute walk. Once you get there it's obvious this is not your typical Amsterdam hotel, it's more American. Excellent staff at check in and throughout the stay. Rooms are excellent, large, with air con , iron and board, hair-dryer, toiletries etc etc all the things you would expect. It's also very quiet. Didn't try the leisure activities, it was world cup weekend!!! so can't comment what they are like. Didn't eat in the place so can't comment on the quality price etc. Did have a drink in the bar which was reasonably priced (for Amsterdam!!!). There is a tram stop opposite the hotel, one every few minutes to the station, the hotel also do a minibus run to the station every 30 minutes free of charge. It goes on the hour and half past. Best to book it with the concierge if the hotel is busy. They also offer a taxi service to the airport at a cost of e9.50 per person which has to be booked at least 2 hours before, I missed this as I didn't see the sign but it's a bargain at that price. If you want to ask any questions about this hotel please ask.

Although it's a bit far from the bustling center of Amsterdam, the location is nice. Within walking distance from the train station and you can take the tram into town. Would definitely stay here again! Rooms are clean-lined, new and well kept. Stayed on one of the higher floors and had a great view of the water. The walk to the tram or into town provided good exercise.
