My husband and I stayed there for three nights Jan. 10-13, 2007. The hotel was extremely clean and comfortable. The bathroom was in pristine condition, with a tub. The decor is modern, with down comforters. They had different types of pillows you could request to maximize your comfort. Any requests, i.e. pillows and extra towels, were delivered very promptly. We were greeted at the door when we arrived and a bellhop immediately got a cart for our luggage. There was also fresh juice provided to us while we were checking in. They have a free shuttle to take you to the train station every hour from 7 am to 1800 pm. It is just a ten minute walk from the hotel to city center. I have no complaints and would definitely stay at any movenpick hotel in the future. Also, there was a great breakfast included in the price of our room. It would have easily cost us $30 or more for a similar breakfast anywhere else.

What a great place to stay. I was there in Dec. 2006 - the hotel is new and beautiful with large rooms and a decent spa.

When I got there, the staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful and there was a complimentary drink given to you during the check in.

The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from Amsterdam Central station - if you have luggage, spend the 10 Euros and take a cab. With no luggage, it is a nice well lit walk back to the city.

The food was good, internet connections all worked well and the staff was excellent.

All in all, I highly recommend this location.

  • Liked — The "newness" and style of the hotel
  • Disliked — the distance to the city....which was still not bad, only a 15 minute walk.
  • Tips/Secrets: — take a taxi to the hotel when you arrive with luggage

I stayed at your Movenpick Amsterdam Center Hotel on December 29, 2006 through the 1st of January. My stay was very pleasant until the morning of January 1st when I encountered one of your chefs at the buffet. That day he was preparing omelets. When I approached him for an omelet he greeted me by saying "What!" I was taken aback by his demenor and lack of consideration for me as a guest. I put my dish on the counter, and asked if I could get an omelet. Once again, he responded rudely and said, "Wait!" I was not out of line, or trying to get service before any other guest, and did not understand why he was talking to me in this way. Once he was done with the other guests omelet he asked what kind of omelet I wanted. I am japanese, but speak english well, although with an accent. I asked him for a vegetable omelet. He humiliated me repeatedly by saying, "What" as though he could not understand me. This went on embarrassing me for about 10 times. Finally, a gentleman next to me in line explained to the chef I would like a vegetable omelet. I work and live in the United States, and speak fluent English. Although, I understand from time to time it might not be clear what I'm saying, but I know for a fact this chef was intentionally being rude. I spoke to hostess, and she explained to me that the chef was not a "people person". I didn't receive any apologies from her. This should be no excuse to treat guests with humility. In all my travels over the years, I've never had to deal with such a bad experience. My holiday trip in Amsterdam is over shadow by this unplesant incident. I will never stay this hotel group.

This hotel was a great find for a quick weekend trip to Amsterdam. The hotel is not directly in downtown Amsterdam but is only a few short blocks away from the train station and anything else you might like to do. The room was immaculate and decently sized compared to most European hotel rooms. All in all it was a great experience at the Movenpick.

  • Liked — It's price coupled with location.
  • Disliked — Parking
  • Tips/Secrets: — Take the train into the city & walk to the hotel

hi
i stayed in this hotel in Nov 2006, with my girlfriend. It had some good reviews, and thought it would be good place to stay. It is a nice airy hotel, with lots of nice modern touches. But it had some SERIOUS downside to it!
1) Firtsly , there was no bath in the room, it was a walk in shower, which was fine, but am used to baths.
2) Service at the front desk was very poor, it was like waiting at an airport check in counter, as there just wasnt enought staff to deal with the ques.
3) the hotel entrance is a small revolving door, hidden beneath a bridge!!! this is absoultely shocking!!, although you can see the hotel from the station, when you get closer, you just dont know how to get to the entrance!!
4) it is about 20 min walk form central station and the nigt life areas, but WOMEN be careful, as it is a little scary , and dark when walking back from a night out to the hotel!!
