“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

I stayed here for 3 nights in May whilst on business. It was a great location - not far from central station and a 10 euro taxi ride from night life. The hotel is very modern and clean. I had a standard room with great views of the river. The staff are very helpful and pleasant and room service was very responsive. The bed was very comfortable and I slept like a log - even through a massive thunderstorm!

Breakfast is excellent with everything and anything you could possibly want except they only allow you to sit in certain areas for breakfast, sharing tables with other guests, which was slightly irritating when you are on business and with colleagues.

However would not hesitate to stay here again and stll dream about that bed!

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

This was my third stay at the hotel. Each time the experience has been the same: there are all the basics but no personal touch or "luxury" that one would expect from a four star hotel. They seem to manage costs carefully which gives a very "standard", purpose-oriented feel. Very clean apart from long long corridors that would benefit from new carpets with some colour. Abt 15 minute walk to the central station but more to see the sights and to see nicer parts of Amsterdam. Nice views to the canals. Breakfast is very good, although the place has a very crowded feel. One needs to think that the volume enables a broader variety, even omelettes made for order.

I normally plan holidays and research hotels before we proceed but with this one we just went for it.

We were really happy with the hotel, it was big modern, clean and quiet. The service was brilliant and the room was exactly what we wanted.

The breakfasts were brilliant every morning with a huge selection to chose from, and we really enjoyed the executive lounge with drinks and snacks included it was the start of every night before we went into town.

Our room had the most amazing view of the IJ and Amsterdam I did spend quite a bit of time sipping on my Nespresso and watching the world go by.

Getting into town did take a bit of time but it was a really pleasant walk even with the cold wind. And the shuttle service was very good even taking us when there wasn't one scheduled.

The hotel may not have the character of the older central hotels but it is a completely hassle free place where you can come and go as you please in really nice modern and luxurious surroundings.

Drinks in the downstairs bar were perfectly mixed we tried a fair few and were happy with every single one.

We would highly recommend this hotel for any Amsterdam stay.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and go Executive, for the views and better service.

We stayed 2 nights at the Movenpick in Amsterdam prior to taking a river cruise. It is right on the river in the port area where cruise ships also dock. The room was a good size by European standards. Quite basic but with a small couch. The room and bath was immaculate and the bed very comfortable. Perhaps it is standard in Europe, but the queen size bed had 2 individual duvets on top which took a little getting used to. Free WI-FI which was great and an amazing buffet breakfast was included. Great location for walking. We walked everywhere and took the hop on - hop off canal cruise. Great value. Very safe city to walk in. We never worried even at night.

Enjoyed this hotel. Clean, well appointed (modern), fee wireless internet, friendly staff, wonderful dinner at Silks. The beds are not particularly comfortable( on the hard side, ) rooms were smallish but this is Europe so it's expected. There was no clock in the room, so if you don't bring one with you, you will need to depend on your watch or cellphone. It would have been nice to have a pool on site but again not popular here, so not really expected. The only thing I would have changed if I could was the location...it is at least a 20 min walk to the edge of town, or you need to take the transit - there isn't very much in the near vicinity as far as restraurants or shopping without going into town.

Thank you for sharing your detailed review with us. It is good to learn you enjoyed the hotel facilities and stay, besides some small inconveniences. With regards to the size of our rooms, you may be interested to know we offer one of the largest hotel rooms in the city of Amsterdam.
We also offer a free shuttle bus every 30 minutes close to teh central station, maybe this is an option should you decide to stay with us again?

Thank you again and kind regards,

It is a 5 min walk to amsterdam centraal, the rooms are clean and well kept, it is on the river, pretty quiet when not on of those big ships (Queen Elizabeth) was actually pretty amazing) is mooring just next to the hotel. We had a room just next to the elevator, that was a slight annoyance. The food in the restaurant was ok, nothing overly exciting.

A great hotel with a lovely view from the top floor and a great staaf. Choose a executive room, even though it's a bit more expensive. They have a great view on the 20th floor, a ok lounge and you can have a breakfast in a quiet place in the morning. The hotel is not in the city center but we though the location was perfect by the water.
