“Good city hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel, although not in the city centre, is well located for transport. 10 minutes walk from Centraal Station, one stop on the 26 tram and the hotel has a free shuttle. But being away from the city centre has its advantages, it was quiet. We had requested a high level room prior to arrival and were allocated a room on the 17th floor looking towards Centraal Station. What a great view from this height!

Room very modern, clean, everything you need including an iron board and iron! Default pillows are bit soft, but you can request firmer ones.

Breakfast was good. Lots of choices. Our stay included breakfast. Not sure I would pay (Eur23 each?) for it though...

We will definitely stay here again when we next visit Amsterdam!

Room Tip: High floor even number rooms for the best views.

Absolutely amazing hotel. The views cannot be matched easily by another hotel anywhere. Enjoyed the breakfast which had abundant variety. The staff and concierge were very warm and friendly. The little one was welcomed with an icecream on the first day and then little gifts in the Executive lounge which was very welcoming as well.

Brilliant. Love the rooms (perfect size, brilliant view). Great location - near the museum's and shops. Of course there are a few stains here and there but what hotel doesn`t? I would recommend this hotel greatly.

Just came back from my holiday weekend (9 August - 11 August) and stayed with the Moevenpick.
Very handy location - tucked a short 10/15 minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal Train Station. High quality food and drink, and the room service staff were extremely courteous and polite. Didn't get great sleep with the bed sheets; each to their own, though!

The only negatives? Upon checking in, we were issued a surprise €100 suspended charge on my debit card as some form of poorly explained security, that is released upon departure, and 'City Tax' of €5.55 per night. Would have been nice to know these things before hand, but nothing that spoilt my weekend!

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay in the Movenpick Hotel, Amsterdam. We were impressed by the care of all staff we came in contact with. On checking in, the receptionist took the time to give us city maps and answered all questions we had. Any staff we met in the lifts always took the time to ask how we were and if we were enjoying our stay. We made use of the hotel bus to go to the station when we checked out, and really appreciated the driver's information about where to get rail tickets and which platform to go for. The hotel can also help out with tickets for key attractions.

Our junior suite was spacious, with a large bathroom. The fridge was well stocked, plus a selection of good quality tea/coffee options. I had not expected a turn down service in the evening, with bottled water and chocolate. There was a good selection of drinks and nibbles in the Executive Lounge in early evening.
Looking out to see great views of the city and the ongoing movement of ships, both large and small, was a pleasure.
We walked almost everywhere in the city, including over to the Museum Quarter, but the hotel is well served for a wide variety of transport options on land and water.
We really enjoyed our stay and I have no hesitation in recommending the Movenpick Hotel for a stay in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: A room on a high floor will give you great views of the city or the water. Lovely to look out on.

With Mövenpick Amsterdam all my boxes were ticked – Comfortable rooms, great food, excellent facilities and good location. Another thing we loved about Mövenpick Amsterdam is it is Green Globe Eco Label certified.

BED - When it comes to the bed in a hotel room, there are two things a re a must; a comfortable king size bed and comfy pillows (there is a Pillow Menu so if you are not happy with the ones you have, you can try a different style). The bed in our room was probably one of the most comfortable beds we have had!

FOOD - Our first experience with food at Mövenpick Amsterdam was a mid afternoon snack. We had a sample platter of Dutch delicacies which was amazing; the Dutch know how to do food!
The next day we experienced how Mövenpick Amsterdam does breakfast – A big beautiful buffet. There was a mix of traditional Dutch food along with the customary cereals, fruits, hot foods, pastries and much more.

FACILITIES - Our main concern in the ‘facilities’ category is good WiFi. If you work online while you travel, you can understand our frustration when a hotel has crappy WiFi. This was not a problem at Mövenpick Amsterdam. We had a super fast connection with no drop outs. For us, that’s as important as a comfy bed! They have a great fitness center, sauna and a massage room. Its nice to know when I come back to the hotel after a day of walking around the city I can get a massage.

LOCATION - Mövenpick Amsterdam is located in the city center, a short walk from Central Station. We walked everywhere we needed to go for the most part. A couple of the museums were a little further afield so we caught a tram to those. The hotel is located on the river so there are great water views from most of the hotel.

All in all we were very impressed with Mövenpick Amsterdam. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times.

Hotel exceeded expectations. Great view. Hotel food excellent. Service good. If you're coming in from a cruise, location is perfect as ship parks at the doorstep. Only about a 10 min walk to town. They have a shuttle to the train station, but it was often reserved and not available. Morning buffet was outstanding as was dinner. Would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the water for views of ships coming in
