“First class hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

We recently stayed at this hotel - for one night only (sadly). On checkin we were offered a free upgrade to a wonderful junior suite, with all the benefits! Very much appreciated!
The location is wonderful, close to town but far enough away to ensure a good nights sleep - very quiet.
We enjoyed the restaurants and bar on the lower floor. Breakfast was huge, plentiful food and variety, possibly the only negative was the chaos that is the breakfast rush on a Sunday morning - but then I understand such a large hotel could do nothing more.
Highly recommend this lovely, clean, modern hotel!

Stayed at Mövenpick for an weekend in november. Found the hotel here at hotels.com and booked it based on earlier reviews.

When we arrived we got offered to upgrade us to an executive/junior suit for an additional cost/night and that included a room at the toopfloor, breakfast, free wifi, free minibar and access to the executiv club druting the day. At 5 PM to 7 PM the was a smaller free buffé at the club and free wine and beer. The room had a great view on the 20th floor but was very small and didn't feel executive at all. The free minibar included soda, water and beer, no wine or snacks. The staff was very friendly and the room very clean.

It took about 15 minutes to walk to the central of Amsterdam. It's an ok hotel but also average! For my next time in Amsterdam I will try to find something a bit closer to the central of Amsterdam.

Dear guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience with regard to your stay in our hotel and we do hope that you enjoyed the benefits of staying at the executive floor. Indeed, with stunning views of the river IJ thanks to our location just outside the busy city centre. Public transportation (one tram stop) or our free shuttle service will bring you to the 'heart of the action'.

With kind regards,

Daniel Kaan

I had a great experience with the hotel. The staff are really helpful and cheerful
The hotel also is looking into a great view and easy for transportation
Even though that I had some small requests and needs to be accommodated, the hotel staff were really keen to perform them easily

Spent 2 days here in Movenpick in July 12 .... the place is not the city centre but i actually liked it as it is very quiet and the river flows right next to it :-) ... has a wide walk way and did a 5 Km run in the morning with NIL traffic and actually loved the warm down near the river :-) :-)

Breakfast is good and sumptious and has variety. as a vegetarian i was quite happy with the spread and service. Internet was free and used it extensively for reading. They have a very good inhouse shop for trinklets, tee's etc. stuff is expensive but very good quality ...

Place is accessible by tram from the city center, red light district ...... used the tram and it was quite simple inspite of not knowing the local language. overall a good place to stay

Dear guest,

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay in Amsterdam and appreciated our hotel, its facilities and location. We hope you had an opportunity to visit our Spa area after your 5 km run...

Please visit us again next time you travel to Amsterdam. The city organises quite a few running events throughout the year, the Dam to Dam Run (September) and Marathon (October) being the most known.

With kind regards,

Daniel Kaan

I got a deal on priceline and was a little concerned about the distance from the main attractions but I really enjoyed the hotel. The staff was great and they were very nice about it being my birthday and wedding anniversary.

The hotel is a little out of the way but very convenient to Central Station and there is a tram stop very close to the hotel. I didn't come to Amsterdam to spend time in a hotel but this was the perfect place to come after a long day of site seeing. Very private, quiet, and beautiful views to fall asleep to and even better to wake up to.

Thanks Movenpick. This is the first review I've ever written and you deserve it.

My wife and I used the hotel for a weekend break. The room, location, staff and food were all excellent. We used the silk road restaurant on one evening and the bar for food on other evenings and for a quick/simple breakfast. The restaurant is ideal for a high class meal, although the bar food is cooked in the same kitchenand is very good quality. You can walk to the central station in a few minutes, but easier to take a tram - there is a stop near the hotel and they run very regularly <10min. There are regular trains central station/Schipol airport and easy to use trams throughout the city - so no need to hail a taxi.

Room Tip: The hotel has 20 floors - so higher is probably quieter.

We stayed at the Movenpick Hotel in August 2012. The trip was booked by friends so we did not know where we were staying until we arrived and what a surprise we received. Absolutely top class! From checking in we could see we had a first class hotel wityh first class service. The room we stayed in had the most stunning views over the Central Station and watertway complex with views across the city. The furnishings and decor were ultra modern and spotlessly clean. Bathroom was luxurious. It was very close to the city centre and there were taxis available at all times outside if required. The only down side was that there were no public access stairs to get to your rooms and if you needed to use the stairs you had to contact reception and a member of staff had to accompany you up or down as required. We found this rather strange! We would definately stay there again.

Room Tip: Go for the higher floors if you want the spectacular views we had.
