My boyfriend and I stayed at the Eden last year. We actually arrived on the opening night! As we walked through the revolving doors at lunchtime to check in workmen were still frantically dashing around drilling light fittings and and hoovering the sofas. To be honest it all added to the excitement and the lobby was pristine by evening.
The rooms were compact and functional, plenty of cupboard/drawer space. The bed was HUGE and super-soft. Wall mounted LCD TV and cool decor made the room feel very hip and boutique-y. Only major draw back to the room was the fact that the bathroom walls were glass, yes, glass. And only partially etched so actually not very private at all. Scarier than that was the fact that the bathroom door was salon-style so
no noises were contained! We got used to it quite quickly, but we did feel quite uncomfortable at first as we really hadn't been together that long.
Our room had particularly noisy air-con which I found really irritating, and on complaining I found the reception staff to be quite flippant and unwilling to help. Porters and cleaners on the otherhand were very courteous and responsive.
There was an empty space where the mini bar and safe should have been, but I must stress that we were amoung the very first guests and that didn't detract from the experience.
We didn't eat at the restuarant even thought it opened 1/2 way though our stay. The menu looked pretty good, some interesting fish dishes.
Great location, fantastic urban-cool feel. If we ever go back to Amsterdam, the Eden is my 1st choice.
