Myself and my partner have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Bellevue in Amsterdam. The best thing about this hotel is it's location. You couldn't ask for a better location. Excellent shopping right on ure door step, 5 min walk to Dam Square, 10 mins to red light district and a short tram ride to the Leidseplein. It was just perfect.

The room was fairly small but immaculate. A little noisy in the mornings but what the hey. Our room was cleaned every day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It cost us E500 for 4 nights.

So if size doesn't matter and a little noise wont bother you and u're looking for an excellent location then look no further...

We would definately stay here again...

A little gem of a hotel

We choose this hotel because of previous reviews and were not disappointed. We paid £89-00 per night for 2 of us (we stayed Sun 2nd April - Tues 4th April) which included breakfast.

The hotel is in a good location, very close to the Central Railway Station which is the hub for the airport train, city trams, regional and international trains and a couple of canal boat operators. Even though the station is close you can’t hear it.

Our room was clean. The beds were very comfortable (two singles pushed together, very European) and the pillows were large and plump. Yes the room is clinical but modern and more than adequate for a hotel. We found the room very quiet and the only noises we heard were fellow guests talking as they passed our door and their doors closing.

The breakfast was varied and fresh and the coffee/tea plentiful.

If I had one complaint it was the receptionist who left us for 5 minutes in mid check-in to answer a telephone enquiry then when she returned to us we got a quick (seemed insincere) sorry. However the other receptionists we came across were very friendly and helpful.

We would definitely stay in this hotel again. It was good value for money and well located.

We found a gem of a restaurant not far from the hotel and ate there 2 nights out of 3. It is De Keuken van 1870, Spuistraat 4, Tel/Fax: (020) 624 8965. The food is basic Dutch, very large helpings and very cheaply priced. I had a Jazz night special 7.50 euros for 3 courses, mustard soup, lamb chops (4) with broccoli and large chips and pear tart to finish. All very nice home cooking. The bill for my dinner and my husbands 2 courses plus 4 beers was 23.50 euros.

The clientele of the restaurant is mixed but it appeared to be mostly locals. The place had a really good buzz about it and the staff seemed to enjoy their jobs, spoke good English and were very helpful.

After weeks of searching for a hotel in Amsterdam, we finally decided on the Bellevue based on the reviews here. We were hoping for the charming, cheap, great breakfast, amazing location hotel that people wrote about, and that's exactly what we got. Definitely not luxury, but everything we needed for a great 3 night stay. We did not have any noise problems--our room faced the courtyard on the 5th floor, and we didn't hear a peep from our neighbors. A small room (which we expected) that was kept spotlessly clean and stocked with fresh towels & amenities. The breakfast was nice, but I'd only get it if it's included in the price.

Amsterdam is a great walking city, and the Bellevue put us at the heart of everything (including all the tram lines if you don't feel like walking). Definitely quieter here at night (unless you head to the RLD or Damrak), so we spent a few evenings in Leidsplein for the lively atmosphere and ton of pubs to choose from.

Amsterdam was beautiful and I'd recommend the Bellevue if you're watching your budget.

My girlfriend and I came to Amsterdam for a two night break and knowing nothing about the city attempted to pick a half decent hotel in a good location. We chose the Belle Vue hotel from the reports on Trip Advisor an were not disappointed, in fact it exceeded our expectations.

After stepping out of centraal station we were ready for navigating our way around the streets to find it but only had to cross the road and it there it was. And next to the oldest pub in the netherlands.

Firstly we came early, about 8:00 am and even though 2pm is the check in time, they allowed us to check in and leave our baggage in a secure room allowing us to begin our holiday instantly. You'd think this was standard practice but it's not always the case with some hotels.

Leaving the hotel we soon realised the great location right in the center, on the street parallel to the Damrak (good starting point) allowing you to access anywhere on foot. Niether my GF or I ever felt unsafe around the hotel.

The room was cosy (size) yet still bigger than some I have stayed in and Very clean and modern if a little clinical in decor. The embedded flat screen TV a nice touch.

Breakfast again was more than I've had before in European hotels including Cereal, croissants, bacon, sausage, eggs (boiled or scrambled), beans, fruit, juices tea coffee....etc We didn't eat here for dinner but the menu looked great and only 18 Euro's for 3 courses.

The staff were all welcoming warm and friendly and I would not think twice about staying here again or reccomending it to someone thinking of visiting Amsterdam. As a base for a short break am pushed to find any down points.

i read all these reviews and have to conclude that the bellevue must be a decent hotel. ITS JUST A PITY ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

when i arrived at the bellevue i was told that i was booked into their sister hotel (sister! more like long lost drunken uncle hotel) the avenue...

funny that, i thought i had booked the bellevue!

i was given no explanation for this sudden change and just told to go up the street and that the price was cheaper because there was a free breakfast..

if i hadnt been stoned i would have started a fight, but anything for a quiet life..

to make matters worse when we went up the street to this so-called sister hotel we were charged an extra 100 euro for city tax on a 400 euro bill....unbelievable!

well excuse me, but 5% of 400 is certainly not 100...

the bellevue may win prizes for their decor but they certainly dont win any for their customer service....and their sister hotle the avenue dont win any prizes for anything as their rooms were shoeboxes with prison issue amenities..

do not book this hotel on the basis that you may not actually be booking it!!!!

unbelievable!
