We stayed in the Barangay Bed & Breakfast for 3 nights in May 2009. We loved it there, it was a perfect base from which to explore Amsterdam. It is right beside Central Station where you can catch trains and trams to bring you to anything you want to see. The B&B is clean and very homely. Wimmo and Godwin and very welcoming hosts and did all they could for us while we were there. The breakfast is fab! We had breakfast brought to our room every morning and their two lovely cats just make the B&B even more welcoming and cosy (Flip the cat visited our room every morning!). All in all, we had a really lovely stay in the Barangay and would recommed it to anyone (we have already told lots of friends and family to make it part of any upcoming trip to Amsterdam!)

On the Barangay Web site, the photo gallery features numerous pictures of the property's "living room." I discovered that this living room is actually the personal space of the owners, not a space for guests to use, when I walked into the room in the afternoon and awoke the owner from his nap. The owner yelled at me for entering his home, and I was thoroughly confused and embarrassed. Although guests may come into the living room when invited during check-in and check-out, this space is, in the words of the owner, "a private area," and should therefore not be featured on the property Web site.

The accommodations were ok -- but not good enough to match the price of this place. The best thing about the Barangay was the location; however, Amsterdam is truly a walking city, and pretty much any property located within the city center is in a good location. I would not stay here again.

We rented an apartment around the corner from the Barangay B & B. We arrived in Amsterdam early in the morning and they gladly let us in and allowed us to store all of our stuff for the day at the B & B. The apartment was around the corner and definitely on a busier street. The B & B location is on a quiet street, but they are both minutes from Central Station. We picked this place because of the location. We had to have easy access to the Station and the walk to get there was painless when getting ready to fly home.

The apartment was pretty basic, it had a queen bed and then a sofa that turned into a double bed. I was with my parents and I was stuck on the sofa bed, it was not very comfy, but it worked for a few nights. The kitchen and bathroom were tiny, but got the job done. The road was a little noisy on a weekend night as there is a cafe below the apartment, but it wasn't bad enough I couldn't sleep.

Our host when we arrived though was wonderful, he gave us a map of the city and personally wrote all over it about where to go, how long it would take to walk, if we should take the tram, what was going on the city and what he recommended. I am sure if you stayed directly at the B & B, they would take awesome care of you.

We loved the location of this B&B. Walk to everything. Anna Frank 10 minutes. Train station10 minutes. Great location if traveling by train. There is street parking but it's expensive. Host will provide directions to alternate 6Euro a day parking. Very gracious , helpful hosts. Greeted us with complimentary drink. Very clean. Liked the kitchen/common area. Self help breakfast was great. Comfortable bed.
