“Best bed & breakfast ever stayed in! ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

This bed and breakfast was quirky, unique & clearly ran with love. We were greeted by Edson who was very friendly & helpful throughout our stay. Upon arrival he offered us a complimentary drink and shared one with us trading a number of pleasantries. Our room was a lovely large sized room, it was within the basement and had a sky light as opposed to a window. The lack of window was not an issue as the room had a make believe window showing a beautiful sea with forest that lit up lovely in the night with a backlight. We had tea and coffee facilities with our own bathroom with bath and shower, dining table, four poster bed, sofa and also coffee machine. The room decor was beautiful and took on a very safari looking theme, really relaxing. Breakfast was self service up until as late as 11:30 and stocked with plenty of items, more continental based, but lots of eggs, ham, bread, cereals, juices, fruit & cheeses. The owners were away having what appears from how this place is ran, a well deserved break. The location is perfect just a few minutes walk from central station and easy to find. This is my 4th visit to Amsterdam and first to the Barangay, I won't stay anywhere else in the future. Thank you for helping make my anniversary special and for fantastic service & welcome, see you again soon!

Sometimes when you have so much good to say it can get jumbled up into a million words like everyone else has said.
So all I'm going to say is this is a hotel run with love passion & commitment to customer happiness. Best B&B I've ever stayed in.
Beautiful place, so happy thanku

This is a lovely B&B, the staff where friendly and welcoming. They gave us complimentary drinks on arrival, along with a map and an opportunity to ask about the surrounding area.

We stayed on the top floor in an attic bedroom that had a private bathroom, the furnishings where lovely and the room was absolutely spotless! you can tell the place is really looked after and the staff and owners take pride in it.

As for the breakfast! :) There was a large selection of food available; fresh breads, pastries, eggs, hams, cheese, cereal, fresh orange juice and coffee ETC!! My partner and I enjoyed being able to cook our own food from the selection available, and the kitchen was open right up until 11.30am so this gives you chance to have a nice relaxed morning without rushing down to breakfast.

The place is 2mins from the Centraal station and really easy to find and it is around the corner from some nice coffee shops and restaurants.

I defiantly recommend this place! We will be staying there again on our next trip to Amsterdam!

Room Tip: Id recommend the attic rooms as they are more private, however the stairs are steep and their are 3...

This is an excellent choice for your stay in Amsterdam.

We didn't get to meet Wimmo and God which is unfortunate as they were on holiday. It would have been nice to meet the after all we read on tripadvisor. But we all need holidays I guess!

We were greeted by Edson who is absolutely lovely. We were offered drinks and shown the map of the area. The location is fantastic. Lots of good food around and close enough to walk from the main station if you follow their direction to get there from the airport.

The third floor room is very large with a nice sink in the corner. The main bathroom (which is private) is about a two step walk into the common hallway. You hope nobody else uses it while you are there but there isn't anything stopping them from using it if they need to, especially as it's right outside the breakfast room. Can't walk to the toilet in your jocks or someone might spot your tackle.

The breakfast selection is amazing. Pastries, fruit, eggs, bread, croissants, juice, coffee, spreads, meat, cheese. And all presented beautifully. When they are more than 4 people in there it is pretty crowded.

The bed is excellent and tv large.the stairs are very steep but the hosts insisted they took our bags up for us. Very nice.

My partner on the second night's stay got very sick with laryngitis and a throat infection and she had a hard time breathing. Edson was so nice to call a doctor for us and have her organise an appointment. He asked her later on how she was feeling as well. So, thank you Edson. Much appreciated.

We would definitely stay here again but maybe get a patio room or on the top floor for a little more privacy.

We stayed here at the beginning of January and had the two patio rooms. They were charming, beautifully decorated and very cosy. I've never slept on such a comfortable bed before, it was incredible. The breakfast was huge and there was a wide variety on offer, which was brought to us in our rooms. Plenty of hot water in the shower and/or bathroom. Our hosts were very welcoming and extremely helpful. I really can't say enough about the Barangay, suffice to add it's the bed B&B I've ever stayed in.

Room Tip: We had the patio rooms, of which there are two, so if there are 4 of you, these are ideal because th...

I stayed here in early December 2013 for 3 days/nights with my 14 year old teenage daughter. Though the weather outside was cold and chilly, our reception at B & B Barangay was the complete opposite! We were welcomed into the private floor and offered tea/coffee etc. before we had barely taken 5 steps into the building. Whilst talking with Edson who had greeted us at the door over coffee and getting directions to various sights and facilities we wanted to get to, Wimmo popped his head in the door to welcome us and took our bags down to our patio room before we'd realised it had happened. We were even handed an emergency card with 4 different numbers to call should we find ourselves in trouble with missing keys etc. The room we stayed it was cosy, and charming and it was a bonus to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room. We were able to watch T.V. as we relaxed at night after full days of sightseeing, as there were several stations that catered to other languages other than Dutch speakers. Breakfast was simply amazing - we felt completely spoiled and pampered - and we could see the amount of effort and genuine love that these guys have in welcoming guests to their facilities and ensuring that they feel very much welcomed. When I needed to print my boarding passes for an ongoing flight, I was told to just send the file to their email address and they'd print them out for me. This was done promptly and helped me to feel at ease that this was another situation taken care of. When the wifi connection wasn't working properly, we were given password access to 2 other access points and this helped resolved the situation. Being close to the Centraal train station was also a bonus for us. Without hesitation, I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
