It felt like a home away from home. There were wine and aperitifs and a great collection of DVDs and CD's in the room, so it was easy to relax after our long flight over and especially after long, long days of sightseeing. Claudia, the owner, and her family were wonderful!

We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at The Flying Pancake the last week of April, leaving on May 1st, the day after Queens Day (a national holiday where everyone wears orange and parties all day). We arrived after 9:00 PM on Friday night to Claudia's friendly smile and warm greeting. After flying all night, my husband's head was stuffed up and I was sure neither of us were going to be able to sleep. But after ten minutes in the steam shower (and a couple of drinks from the apertif tray), we were out like a light! The bed is so comfy and the room so cool and dark, that sleeping was easy. After two full days of sightseeing, we dawned our orange shirts and stepped out to mingle with the locals on Queens Day. By mid-day, my husband was laying on the bed sleeping and I was in Claudia's backyard enjoying appetizers with her family. If you want to live like a local, while being treated like a Queen, the Flying Pancake is for you.

We recently returned from our trip to the Netherlands and feel so fortunate to have found the Flying Pancake. We stayed in the loft, which was quite spacious and felt like a home away from home. There were wine and aperitifs and a great collection of DVDs in the room, so it was easy to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Claudia, the owner, was extremely hospitable and attended to our every need, and was informative about things to do while in Amsterdam. Breakfasts were tasty and varied by the day, the bed was quite comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked. The Flying Pancake is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, but is close to everything that is fun to do in Amsterdam. We would definitely stay there again, and strongly recommend it to others for an intimate and comfortable experience.

We went to the Flying Pancake in April, 2007 and stayed for 3 nights.
Claudia was great even before we got there. She even got us concert tickets ahead of time. Romantic, convenient. Felt truly at home!

We took our 15 year old son to Amsterdam over spring break and discovered this wonderful Bed and Breakfast recommended by other trip advisor reviewers. We had the upper unit in a tall, skinny house which was immaculately decorated. It became our haven of rest after long days of sightseeing. Claudia has down a superb job of creating your own family home. In the morning we were treated to fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh warm breads, cheese, ham and other goodies. You have your own mini kitchen complete with an espresso machine and microwave. The bathroom is the best anywhere we have stayed in the world (including fancy 5 star hotels on business trips). Two sinks set in a slate counter and the most amazing gravity shower that pours water from the ceiling. After jet lag and days of walking you can sit in your own steam room, complete with eucalyptus steam, and remember your fun day. The location is also superb. A block from the #9 and 14 trams, walking distance to great restaurants plus a wonderful theatre where we saw the musical Cats. Amsterdam is a compact city and very easy to navigate both by public transport and foot. Flying Pancake is wonderful because you can live in a neighborhood and escape some of the central city craziness. We stayed for 8 nights and would do it again in a heartbeat. Claudia has created a warm and welcoming atmosphere within a high tech cozy environment for her guests. Be sure to book early because this place will eventually be on the top of everyones's list. Thanks to all of the Trip Advisor reviewers who led us to this fantastic property.
