I had a really lovely time staying at the flying pancake bed and breakfast, it was beautifully furnished-the steam shower with eucaliptus scent very luxurious! Claudia the host was very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Located on a quiet road, it was so relaxing and peaceful. Breakfast was left outside our room each morning, wrapped up inside a basket, which meant you could get up and have breakfast completely at your leisure.
We found that we chose the coldest time of year to go! and so the brilliant collection of romantic comedy dvds, the fact that there was an ipod player and fireplace meant that we could have a very cosy night in without feeling that we were missing out on the Amsterdam nightlife.
We very much hope to stay again at the flying pancake.

My husband and I had a lovely stay at The Flying Pancake and hope to try the lower suite on our next visit. Claudia is a wonderful proprietor, most welcoming. After our three days we felt really chilled out, I think more so than if we had stayed in an hotel. It was nice having the facilities of home whilst enjoying an apartment that is quite unique. There are many extra's that come with this apartment but my favourites have to be the steam shower, the real coffee and the open fire. We listened to Christmas carols on the bose and drank real coffee by the open fire.Bliss.

  • Liked — All of the extra's.
  • Disliked — Although logs are available, we couldn't use the open fire until we had purchased firelighters.

We absolutely loved staying at The Flying Pancake. Beautifully renovated 18th century building with a narrow winding staircase. You are not just offered a bed, but a sitting area with working fireplace, eucalyptus steam shower, Bang and Olufsen tv/sound system and laptop with wireless connection. The wine rack is filled, liquor for sipping and small kitchenette for when you want to make yourself at home. Prices for these extras was very reasonable. However, after your steam shower and before making a move for the day, you are provided with your own hamper of breakfast goodies. We were pleased to have a Benecol drink like home and a variety of tea to choose from. However this is not all possible without Claudia who is the most helpful and gracious of hosts. She recommended places to eat in the area and which tram to take into town as well as where to get our ticket. Our brief stay at The Flying Pancake was one of the highlights of the weekend and would highly recommend to anyone who wants to stay in a place like home. All at a reasonable price!

On our honeymoon, my wife and I spent a little over a week at The Flying Pancake. The whole trip was quite refreshing and romantic but returning to our suite after a day walking the streets of Amsterdam was everything we could have hoped for. Amazing light from large windows, amazing shower, great bed and stereo. It was the perfect place to sleep-in and then have a nice breakfast in the room complete with fresh juice. The expresso machine in the room was also easy to use and in the evening a well stocked tea box made warming up easy. We found ourselves staying in the room until much later in the morning than we would have in a traditional hotel room because it was so pleasant.

The location was really great as the neighborhood is quiet but we were just a short walk from some great cafes and the city center. Check out Puccini Cafe for lunch and then pick up some amazing chocolate at the shop next door. The crisp cool fall weather was perfect for sipping a cappuccino and then exploring all this city has to offer - remember to bring a warm coat this time of year.

  • Liked — Well appointed room and a great location
  • Disliked — A little chilly and steep stairs

Excellent bead and breakfast. Not cheap, but worth every cent.
The hosts are very friendly, the room is not a room but rather a studio. The place is very cosy and contains everything you need and even more (dvd's, ipod ...)

  • Liked — the room/studio was big and very cosy, a bit like home
