Excellent bead and breakfast. Not cheap, but worth every cent.
The hosts are very friendly, the room is not a room but rather a studio. The place is very cosy and contains everything you need and even more (dvd's, ipod ...)

  • Liked — the room/studio was big and very cosy, a bit like home

I booked the 2 night stay for my friend and I, as her 30th birthday present. I had looked at a wide range of hotels and b&b's in Amsterdam from The Dylan right down to more student accommodation.

I was slightly weary when I saw the prices for the Flying Pancake as they seemed so reasonable and the pictures and reviews looked so good! I wasn't disappointed.

Everything about the stay was lovely and we really felt at home and welcomed. The best things about the trip was the freedom you had from having your own front door key (and not forgetting the great steam shower!).

I will definitely be back.

We just returned from a week in Amsterdam. We spent 7 nights in the top apartment in the Flying Pancake. It was lovely! The room is spacious, beautifully equipped - everything you could need or want. Claudia provides some Alciholic drinks for free, the minibar is great, as are the coffee machine, the DVD with a selection of movies,
CD's and a great sound system, and the books and guideboks.

Claudia is gracious, helpful but not intrusive, knowledgable and very
nice.

We LOVED the Hamam - the wet Sauna in the bathroom. The steam, the space, the experience - were lovely and refreshing and back home here we really miss our 10 minutes a day in the Sauna.

I agree with all the reviews below regarding the location, the breakfast - Claudia's attention to detail and willingness to help.

Stay there! You will LOVE it.

The Flying Pancake really deserves its excellent Trip Advisor rating. Claudia was extremely helpful and charming. She even lent us a laptop so that we could check in on-line for our flights home.
Everything in the flat is of top quality, e.g. Bang & Olufsen Hi-Fi, Bose docking station for iPod. The sheets in particular were so good that I might have to buy some for home. We stayed in the top flat and friends stayed in the one below. This was an ideal arrangement for friends as each couple are close but independant. After a day you don't even notice the steep stairs.
It's in a pleasant quiet location near to a No9 Tram stop and plenty of good restaurants. Breakfast delivered to you door, what could be better?

I found the Flying Pancake on the Tripadvisor site.
Having read of the great reviews already given to the Flying Pancake, can only say that we were also delighted to stay at
this very comfortable and interesting B & B. We give it top
marks in every respect.
Claudia was exceedingly helpful during both the booking process
and our stay there. A great resource for any help and information.
The Flying Pancake is a short walk (about two blocks) to a
tram which takes travellers to central Amsterdam in minutes.
We also had a Fodor's guide which is helpful for planning
travel on other lines in Amsterdam.
A good variety of restaurants nearby. Nice quiet district.
We also appreciated the chance of watching some DVDs when
we wanted to veg. out in the evening.
Wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Flying Pancake again or recommend it to other travellers. A great welcome awaits you
there.

  • Liked — Very helpful owner, cleanliness, location - nice quiet area, but close to downtown
